Dear Friends,

It's a new year, so it is time for a new look for our monthly E-Newsletter!  Next month, we will begin our 5th year of sending out a monthly online E-Newsletter.  Our first edition came out in February of 2009!  Our message was simple, we promised to give you the
latest information about all our events, programs and services.

We hope to continue to provide that service to you and in the coming months, we look forward to sharing the information about our new facility.  Please forward this newsletter to a friend, who may wish to be a part of our organization.

If you have any questions or comments please email us at editor@houseoflebanon.com

Best Wishes from Our House to Yours,

Dear Friends,

From the bottom of my heart I wish for you and yours a blessed, happy and prosperous New Year.  I am grateful for your contributions and dedication to our mission.  We have achieved what many thought could not be done.  A tribute to your efforts.  2013 is going to be even more challenging and we need to maintain our enthusiasm if we are to crown our incredible achievement with deserving success.  The job is not complete.  We are working on drawings and plans to make our "building" a livable and appropriate monument for our community.  I have confidence in you and I know that you will be equal to the challenge.

Thinking about golf and Lebanese connection to it, and wanting to do something unique, I came out with this idea, why not do it knife style of painting instead of brush, the basic golf course with the cedar tree in the horizon. The moon in the sky and the golf ball similarities to call it: "The two moons".

Cecile Sarruf

When I think of golfing, I think of wide open spaces filled with peace and freedom. This is why I chose "Golf by the sea" as my subject.

Sabrina Chammas

"Beirut from the Sky"

Semi-abstract oil painting of Beirut viewed through an airplane window. Captures the feeling of seeing home for the first time after a year spent abroad.

Reem Hammad

In the spirit of the game, I decided to weave together the elements the sport with the word GOLF itself and give my little painting a graphic and playful look. The painting teases the viewer to look at it with a close-up view: the Golf Club, the T and the Ball, or an aerial view with the Golf course and the sand pads; all part of the GAME.

Ella G'Sell Hamzeh

My painting says "Play Golf" in Arabic because I wanted to intertwine golf traditions with Arabic design and the beauty of the language. I am honored to be part of such a wonderful project with amazing artists. Thank you for making me a part of something so special.

Dalaa Al-Jundi Faytrouni

This project was a challenge to make an abstract piece of art of the subject "Golf" and to work  with a limited color palette, but the best  fun is to be a part of a wonderful artist group that worked together to create a piece of art  that is unique as this  group .

I had no idea there were so many golf courses in the Los Angeles area.

The sun & the sky, the green & the hole; all mixed in this abstract, multi-media interpretation of Golf.

Acrylic & Thai paper on canvas.

Carole Choucair Oueijan

I don't play golf, but I love to stand and admire its vast green fields. It was a nice experience to reflect these images in a small mixed media of glass mosaic and acrylic paint.

Zareh

In my painting, I wanted to visually express energy and movement which is the physical part of this game.

I also used a small red color in the vast contrasting cool colored areas to create the feeling of focusing.

Repeated white rounds symbolize the many attempts that a golfer takes with the balls to reach the goal.

"Golf on the Horizon"

When I think of golf, I think of the sky and the grass meeting together.
