Charitable Automobile Red-Tape Simplification Act
A bill that will help minimize the red tape and easily allow owners of cars valued between $500 to $5000 to donate the automobiles to charitable nonprofits has been introduced in the US House of Representatives. HR 4960, the Charitable Automobile Red-Tape Simplification (CARS) Act, was introduced in late June by Representative Todd Young (R-IN-9). There is bi-partisan support for the bill in the House, including NH's District 2 Representative Ann McLane Kuster.

National Nonprofit Movement Urges Senate Action on the America Gives More Act

Nonprofits across the country are calling on the US Senate to pass the America Gives More Act. This legislation, passed by the House with a strong bi-partisan vote in July, including yes votes from both NH Congresswoman Shea-Porter and Congresswoman Kuster, renews and makes permanent expired charitable giving incentives that promote:

  • donations of nutritious food to food banks,
  • the conservation of land,
  • and contributions from IRAs directly to charitable nonprofits.
