A glimpse into the life and thoughts of an artist

You've probably heard either
"The Devil is in the Details"
or
"God is in the Details"
.

I'm here to tell you it's LIFE!

"Life is in the Details!"

We get excited about the broad-brush strokes of success that sometimes happen in life. AND more often than not it is the little things that we do each day that allow those big things to happen.

Sometimes I play a game called
"What would my future self do?"
Sometimes I call it, "What would a famous artist do?"

The first time I played this game was at a conference. It was a prompt given by the presenter and for several hours we wrote about our future selves at work, at play, at home, shopping, you name it.

It was a fun, energizing, exciting game! It was also a non-threatening way for me to consider my future self.

Despite the fact that I am an artist, I am not very good at visualizing my future.

I'm also not that gifted at considering what might have been had I taken a different course of action. Why bother with that?

Occasionally, when my bank account dips low, I will worry about how the bills will get paid.

That is NOT the way to play the
"Future Self Game"!

Do NOT confuse Worry with this game! Worry is you investing in trouble.

Instead learn to play the "Future Self Game".

What does your "Future Self" do when she/he has 30 minutes free (okay, 10 if you're so very busy!)?

What does your "Future Self" ("FS") eat?

When does your "FS" exercise? (Yes, exercise is in your future if you want a long healthy future!)

Where does your "FS" live?

What is your "FS" reading?

You get the idea.

Your "Future Self" is not a place to live. It is more of a game to play (or a tool to use if you don't play games) to help you see who you want to be and how you want to live.

Once you have played "FS" for a while, you will be ready to play the "Preference or Priority" game.

More about that game in the weeks to come.
