A glimpse into the life and thoughts of an artist

The second time I turned to wave my gratitude to the boogie board angel who'd gotten me the wave I rode in on, we connected.

As tears streamed down my face, I thought to myself,

WhirlWind Begins
The WhirlWind Begins

"What's Sarah going to do if she gets that grant?

She's not going to want to lose
her apartment?

She doesn't pay rent!

I could quit my job.

I could sell my house.

I could move to Hawai`i.

I could paint!"

The energy running through my body was electric. My heart was pounding and I felt an excitement I'd never felt before. I wanted to keep this energy running. I wanted to ground the energy in reality and give it legs or wings ... something to carry me into the future.

So I turned to Kit walking along the beach beside me and repeated my words out loud. Verbatim.

WhirWind Sideways

When I finished, all Kit said was, "I guess."

She was underwhelmed, and I was still in a heady fog of magic and mystery, wondering what might happen next.

As far as I was concerned, my life in Hawai'i as a painter had just become a possibility. One I had never before considered. One I had never even imagined.

All of that happened 14 years ago this month.

WhirlWind 180

I would be lying if I said I've never looked back, although

I've truly never seriously
looked back.

My life as an artist continues
to grow & unfold in surprising, often delightful, ways.

Thank you for sharing the twists and turns of this journey with me. I appreciate the comments and thoughts you share with me, as well as the images you purchase.

WhirlWind almost finished

In exchange I promise to continue to be open to new ideas and imagery, & to share my thoughts on life as an artist with you.

Who knows, maybe one of these days our lush landscape will creep into my paintings. I know my Dad would like to see that happen. It just might. We shall see.

The painting illustrating this portion of the eZine is a work in progress. The title: WhirlWind came to me with the concept.

Like its name, it keeps whirling around the studio as I paint it first in one direction and then the next. I expect that by the next time I write, it will be finished. In the meantime, please feel free to share your thoughts about it with me.  Just hit reply.

original HeartScape painting by Patrice Federspiel

Carla Forrest's HeartScape painting by Patrice A Federspiel

HeartScape Intuitive Paintings are a creative, personal Valentine's Gift for you or for someone you love. Each original HeartScape includes the intuitive insights I receive while painting.

The HeartScape above was created for Carla Forrest; it is her energy and her beauty. Carla keeps her HeartScape in her bedroom where she can see it daily. This is what she says about her HeartScape:

"I put my HeartScape in my bedroom, as you suggested. Wow, wow, Wow!!! Was there some extraordinary Hawaiian magic in that painting? Within days, struggles moved away from my life and new opportunities swiftly presented themselves. Hummmm....

It was amazing how quickly old stuff rose to the surface and was released (e.g., overnight) which unblocked the flow of abundance. We will need to talk sometime, because I have never undergone such a powerful spirit healing on my life!"

And, here's the good news, the healing continues to progress - old stuff coming up and rapidly releasing into love effortlessly. Thank you for this gift!"

Now is the time to order your very own original, personal five-inch HeartScape Intuitive Painting for yourself, or a friend, for $65.

The next 5 people to order are guaranteed to receive a scan of their original painting on or before Valentine's Day, along with the words I receive. Your original personal 5"W HeartScape Intuitive Painting, on watercolor paper, including your heart's message for you, will arrive in the mail within two weeks.

Close your eyes for a moment, relax, take a breath, and ask yourself if you, or your loved one, want to know what's written on your heart.  Then envision the person for whom you want a HeartScape Intuitive Painting. When you feel ready, click on one of these buttons:
