Employers Of Distinction Celebrates Its 10th Anniversary

Over 100 guests of The Arc Baltimore enjoyed a 10th anniversary celebration of our Employers of Distinction - giving accolades to the many companies employing people with developmental disabilities in Greater Baltimore - and for our good friend John Dinkel, president & publisher of the Baltimore Business Journal, for his commitment to showcasing these companies. Secretary of Commerce Mike Gill and Secretary of Disabilities Carol Beatty presented a Lifetime Achievement award to John on behalf of The Arc. Numerous other appointed and elected officials attended along with many of the companies who employ workers supported on the job by The Arc Baltimore. Click here for more pictures from the event.

Thank You, John

The Arc Baltimore would like to say a special thank you to John Dinkel, president and publisher of the Baltimore Business Journal, for his partnership and commitment to The Arc. In October, John and supported workers from The Arc were stars in the city as they posed for a photo shoot in Baltimore.

Last Call For Wings For Autism

Wings for Autism is a program that provides children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities a "practice" opportunity to experience sometimes challenging aspects of airline travel at an airport - parking and shuttling to the terminal, check-in, security, boarding the aircraft and interacting with airport personnel along the way. BWI Airport, Southwest Airlines, and the Transit Security Administration are working with The Arc to help ease potential stresses that the airport experience can cause for individuals.

Hope Is Stronger Than Fear

On October 29th, ladies from The Arc Baltimore joined together to support each other for Mammogram Buddy Day. Every year, a group of women from The Arc travel together to Advanced Radiology to get their mammograms with their buddies by their side for support and celebrate the importance of getting mammograms during Breast Cancer Awareness month!

Giving Tuesday Is Back

The Arc Baltimore is proud to be a partner of Giving Tuesday on December 1, 2015.

This December, with your help, 70 children and adults with autism and other developmental disabilities will participate in Wings For Autism and have a practice run at what can be a traumatic experience for someone with sensory challenges - airport travel. Families often avoid flying and drive long distances because their loved ones can't handle the airport's noise and bustle, and the security process can be particularly unnerving. So, after you enjoy turkey on Thanksgiving, shop till you drop on Black Friday and Cyber Monday, we ask that you save some to give away.

Please help us reach our goal of $1,500 by clicking here today through December 1st.
