Soakin' Up Sunshine At Bay Buddies

Bay Buddies is coming to a close. There was no shortage of smiles throughout the week for 80 students from Battle Monument, Maiden Choice, William S. Baer, and George W.F. McMechen. Campers learned about the life-cycle of butterflies while trying to catch them at The Living Classrooms Masonville Cove Environment Education Campus. They sailed aboard the Skipjack Sigsbee while taking in the sights, sounds and creatures of the harbor. They rode horses at the Maryland Council for Special Equestrians, many for the first time.

Consider making a donation to The Arc Baltimore and designating it to Bay Buddies to ensure that eighty students with developmental disabilities each year can explore the bay.

Memorial Brick Remembrance Program

The Arc Baltimore has known the loss of amazing people through the years - individuals who we supported to their end, family members who gave of themselves to advance our mission, and staff members who spent careers of dedicated service. Gifts are often given to The Arc Baltimore in memory of those we've lost. Now a more permanent gift may be offered. A memorial garden patio at The Arc Baltimore's headquarters in Towson will include bricks that are engraved with names and messages to help us remember those we've lost.

Honor the memory of your loved one with an engraved brick or a tree with a plaque at the base.

The Arc Baltimore is hosting a dedication of the new memorial garden and a reception to follow on Thursday, September 17th. If you would like to purchase a brick or a tree and see it placed in the garden you must submit your form by Wednesday, August 19th.

Print and fill out the memorial form and mail it to The Arc Baltimore, Attn: Development, 7215 York Road, Baltimore MD 21212. For more information, contact Kate McGuire at 410-296-2272, ext. 5217.

Students From Mexico Visit Career Catalyst

Last week, 12 students from Mexico visited the Career Catalyst Program while on a four-week summer program entitled Jovenes en Accion sponsored by the U.S. Department of State and the Mexican Secretariat of Education.

The diplomatic program focuses on social issues in both the United States and Mexico. While with The Arc Baltimore, the students learned about developmental disabilities, discrimination, and the importance of community integration. The group also hung out with interns at Career Catalyst, discussing everything from food to career aspirations.

We are so grateful that we were able to share some of the work that we do at The Arc Baltimore with such intelligent and kind individuals. Thanks for visiting!
