Mom's Car is Torched -
She Calls The Arc Baltimore
Markia Proctor lost her car this week when her Mondawmin neighborhood was at the starting point of the Baltimore rioting. The car was a total loss and her insurance coverage was too limited to take care of replacement. Who did she call? Staff at The Arc Baltimore - who immediately looked for solutions. We've known Markia and her little girl Malaiya, who has Down syndrome, for a long time and we know how hard she works to take care of Malaiya. Staff contacted Vehicles for Change and asked if they could make an exception from their usual program criteria to help Markia. Markia needs her car for work, school, and taking Malaya to her many therapies/doctors' appointments and child care.

So the good news is that we can help her get a car, but Markia needs help to cover the $2,500 cost that remains. That's where The Arc Baltimore Family Help Fund comes in. Can you please make a donation to the Family Fund to help with this emergency situation? We help families of children with disabilities - young and old - every day. That's only possible because of the people who donate to our Family Fund - our members and contributors, our staff, and you.
Please make a donation today. A gift of $5, $50, or $500 will make a difference. Help us help Markia and Malaiya, and possibly others in The Arc family who have been hurt in these troubled days - and to help us reach those who face the daily challenges of caring for their children with developmental disabilities and who sometimes have crises that don't make the news.
If you prefer to send a check, please send to: 7215 York Road Baltimore, MD 21212.
