Since 2009, students from Ohio State University have spent their spring break with The Arc Baltimore. Every year, ten students spend the week organizing The Arc's big talent event, Arc Idol. Individuals with disabilities are invited to audition and participate in the yearly competition. The students from Ohio State organize and judge the event.
The Buck-I-SERV motto is: Travel. Learn. Serve. Buck-I-SERV is a week long, substance-free program centered on community service and civic engagement, and held during the university's breaks. The mission of Buck-I-SERV is to provide students with a challenging and fun opportunity to lead and learn through direct service experiences. Students learn the importance of reflection, social justice, and civic engagement while gaining new perspectives through working in diverse environments. They are also meeting community needs, building on community assets, and bringing their experiences back to campus. |
Celebrating a tradition of volunteer and staff commitment each year, this event is a unique gathering of close friends and partners of The Arc Baltimore and serves as annual election of the new board of directors and officers.
