2015 Family Education Series:
Relationships & Sexuality

Learn how to support your family member with a developmental disability in living a life that includes safe, healthy & happy relationships.

A presentation for parents, siblings and caregivers of individuals supported by The Arc Baltimore. Supported individuals are also encouraged to attend.  However, please consider whether you would prefer to have this candid discussion with or without your family member present.

Families of individuals with I/DD are sometimes protective and/or uncomfortable when thinking about their loved ones as interested in romantic relationships and sex. During this presentation we will explore our own values about sexuality and disability and teach strategies to initiate conversations about relationships, boundaries, sexuality, sexual health and personal safety. This will help you in supporting your family member to explore all aspects of the human experience.
