More than 600 people with developmental disabilities, their families and staff from across Maryland were in Annapolis this week lobbying to restore funding for wage increases promised last year (to keep direct support staff pay ahead of minimum wage), include funds for people on the waiting list (zero dollars were budgeted), and other legislation vital to the disabilities community. See fact sheets on all of these issues.
Board member and Helping Hands self-advocacy group president, Earnest Woodard, spoke to WBFF FOX 45 about why he joined other advocates in Annapolis to push for reinstated funding for individuals with developmental disabilities. Click below to see more picures from DD Day.

Congratulations Aaron Atkinson, QE Director!
Congrats to our Director of Quality Enhancement, Aaron Atkinson, for becoming an official CARF International Surveyor. As a result, Aaron has acquired an enhanced understanding of CARF standards through extensive training. In addition, because he will be required to visit three agencies each year, he will see the innovative programs and services provided by other agencies across the US and continue to improve what we do through the application of those successful procedures at The Arc Baltimore. Aaron is our second CARF surveyor joining longtime surveyor, Sly Bieler. | |
