Wings For Autism Soars!

To alleviate the stress individuals with autism spectrum disorders often experience when traveling by air, The Arc Baltimore and other chapters of The Arc throughout Maryland partnered with BWI Thurgood Marshall Airport, Southwest Airlines, the Transportation Security Administration (TSA), and AIRMALL and held Wings for AutismŽ on Saturday, December 6, 2014.

Over 50 families and volunteers from across Maryland participated in the event. Wings for AutismŽ offers individuals with autism or other intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families a chance to practice entering the airport, obtaining boarding passes, going through security, and boarding a plane. Wings for AutismŽ also gives airport, airline, TSA professionals, and other personnel the opportunity to observe, interact, and deliver their services in a structured, learning environment.
