#GivingTuesday is one way you can make an impact. Let me tell you about a family we've been able to impact here at The Arc.
The Arc Baltimore helps many families with young children who have disabilities. We have a Family Help Fund for those in crisis and those with simple needs that can seem unattainable. Last fiscal year, we were able to help 241 families of younger and older adult children with disabilities through the Fund. One is the Mendoza family.
Mr. and Mrs. Mendoza both work, but it's not easy and even the basics can be a struggle for them. Their daughter Veronica is four years old and has Down syndrome.
Her Mom says Veronica is very affectionate and loves to blow kisses. She's very bright and loves stickers, princesses, and colored pencils. She understands when spoken to in English or Spanish, but she's nonverbal and needs help communicating her needs.
What makes an impact on the Mendoza's? A monthly supply of diapers and some groceries. While we may help other families get their children special therapies or wheelchair ramps built, a basic supply of diapers and food is what has the greatest impact for this family.
Please support The Arc Baltimore's Family Help Fund with a contribution now - or tomorrow for Giving Tuesday at www.thearcbaltimore.org/donate.
