Focus on Siblings!

FAMILY EDUCATION SERIES: SIBLINGS

Siblings of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities will likely have the longest familial relationship with their sibling. There are numerous emotional and practical considerations that go along with this relationship. Join us along with a panel of adult siblings and Kathy Vecchioni, executive director of By Their Side to explore these issues and talk about supports that are, or should be, available to the typical sibling.

Tuesday, 11/11, 6-9 p.m.
The Arc Baltimore
6151 Metro Drive
Baltimore, MD 21215

Contact Becky Hartnett to register.

SIBSHOPS: SIBLINGS SUPPORT GROUPS

The Arc Baltimore and Battle Monument School are collaborating to provide free workshops, called Sibshops, for brothers and sisters, ages 6-14, of children with special needs.  Sibshops provide a fun, energetic, and activity-driven experience during each model.  The Sibshop model intermingles information, discussion activities, games, cooking activities, and special guests.  Most of all, Sibshops seek to afford siblings with opportunities for peer support.

In an effort to offer workshops that are accommodating to many, we ask that you please complete the following survey.  Your input will determine the time, frequency and location of the meetings.

For more info, email Esther Ford or call: 410-296-2272, ext.5308.

Special Needs Alliance

When a loved one has intellectual and developmental disabilities, building a foundation for their financial security and personal fulfillment can be complicated.

The Special Needs Alliance (SNA) is a nonprofit comprised of attorneys who have guided thousands of families through the process of planning for a loved one's long-term well-being.  Many SNA members have children or siblings with disabilities, adding a personal perspective to their legal insights.
