Fun in the Sun at Bay Buddies
In August, 84 students with intellectual and developmental disabilities attended our Bay Buddies summer camp and enrichment program thanks to your generous contributions and the collaborative effort of The Arc Baltimore, Baltimore County and City schools, and our host Living Classrooms.
Campers sailed on the Lady Maryland, visited the Science Center and went swimming, horseback riding and bowling. Other popular activities were crafts, drum circles and hands-on activities involving living things from the Chesapeake Bay. See them in action by viewing the photo wall below.

Art in the Round Tickets

Direct Support Professionals' Month
In September, The Arc acknowledges over 600 staff members who are direct support professionals. Day in and day out these staff have a mission of providing advocacy and high quality, life-changing supports to thousands of adults and children with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families. The Arc Maryland Announces New Executive Director
The Arc Maryland is delighted to announce the appointment of their new Executive Director, Cristine Boswell Marchand. Cristy has over 30 years of experience in disability rights and public policy at the state and local levels on behalf of children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, with over 20 years managing The Arc Maryland until her move to New Mexico in 2011. Congratulations, Cristy, and welcome back!

How The Arc Received Its Fourth CARF Accreditation
Quality Ehancement Director, Aaron Atkinson, explains how The Arc received its fourth, three-year accreditation for the following services - Employment Supports; Job Development; Community Housing; Community Integration; Foster Family Services; Supported Living; and Governance. CARF International is an independent, nonprofit accreditor of health and human services.

Last Call for Artwork!
Adult and youth artists with developmental disabilities can now submit artwork for consideration in our 13th annual Art in the Round exhibit and silent auction. The deadline for art submissions for adults is September 22nd and children and youth is September 29th, and all submissions must include an artist packet.
