Top Intern Receives Kudos!

Janice Toothman, a recent graduate of the Towson University's Master's in Counseling program was recently awarded our Intern of the Year award at The Arc's Annual Meeting and Awards Reception. Janice has spent the last year counseling people who attend The Arc's center inDundalk .
She spent three days a week with her service dog, providing individual counseling to members of the center. In addition, she organized group therapy sessions where individuals can help each other in a peer-to-peer manner. She was a wonderful addition to the Dundalk staff. and everyone will sincerely miss her. Good luck Janice!

Thanking Our Interns

We would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our wonderful interns for a great year!  Some will be returning in the fall, but many will graduate and move on to new adventures.  We are truly grateful for all you do for the people we support and The Arc Baltimore as a whole!  We could not accomplish nearly as much as we do without your hard work and dedication to our mission.  Thank you!

Minimum Wage Bill Signing

Advocates, including Senator Thomas "Mac" Middleton and Delegate Guy Guzzone, were on hand as Governor Martin O'Malley signed landmark legislation that would increase the state minimum wage to $10.10 by 2018 and increase reimbursement rates for direct support professionals serving individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. This will ensure that direct support professional positions will not become minimum wage jobs.
