About PLAY Campaign
The Professional Baseball Athletic Trainers Society (PBATS) Promoting a Lifetime of Activity for Youth (PLAY) Campaign combats child obesity and promotes healthy living and decision making among young people in America.
At each Major League ballpark in the country, the PBATS organization runs a two hour event open to the media that includes 75-200 youngsters between 8 and 17 to enjoy health and fitness activities on a Major League Baseball field during the upcoming 2014 MLB season. The Arc has been asked to bring representatives from our chapters to fill approximately 20 of the available slots at selected events (other children and youth will be included from local Boys & Girls Clubs, Reviving Baseball in Inner Cities programs, and other local organizations).
All youngsters, with and without disabilities, will be divided into integrated groups and rotate through a series of stations: a strength and conditioning station, an injury prevention station, a nutrition station, a station on the dangers of steroid abuse, and a Q and A station with the participating MLB players from each of the respective local teams.
