A Sibling Conversation

The longest relationship in the life of an individual with a developmental disability is the one with their siblings.  Each sibling experience is unique and often changes throughout the lifespan.

Please join us as we first explore the sibling experience through the eyes of a panel of brothers and sisters who will discuss their lives as siblings of individuals with Intellectual and Developmentally Disabilities.
Next, in a facilitated discussion, participants will have the opportunity to share experiences, ideas and network. This forum will help set the direction for future sibling support specific to Maryland.

Due to limited space, attendance is limited to facilitate learning and connecting between families and siblings.

LISS (Low Intensity Support Services) Recommendations

Under the guidance of The Maryland Developmental Disabilites Council, a task force of families, individuals with disabilities, and service providers made 25 thoughtful recommendations to improve the implementation of Low Intensity Support Services (LISS), and thus maximize the impact of this important program.

The report was presented to Patrick Dooley, Acting DDA Director, on December 2, 2013, and chapters of The Arc are encouraging DDA to adopt the recommendations.
