Fall is almost "officially" here. We "Fall Back" Sunday morning at 2 AM and at that time I, for one, officially turn my mind to winter diving. Winter diving in the Pacific Northwest means almost no algae, water temperature in the 49 to 51 degree range and the best visibility of the year, 30 to 50 feet, for the next four or five months.
The cooler air temperature is an encouragement for those of us who are a bit thin blooded to get out our dry suits, check seals and wax zippers. For those of you who are not yet diving dry, don't wait a moment longer. Diving dry has numerous advantages, greater comfort, longer dives, less energy consumption, more mobility and one small towel. At the end of a dive in a dry suit one inflates the suit and a warm envelope of air or argon surrounds the diver inside a windproof shell.
HydroSports will be offering Dry Suit Specialty classes all winter long. We rent dry suits and will have dry suits on sale starting November 3.
We've sold many of our three year old rental regulators and BCDs, however, we have a few left. If you're interested in a great deal on a well-cared-for kit, come by the shop ASAP.

Join me March 23 to 26, 2015 for three days of Southern California boat dives with Catalina Scuba Luv. Avalon is a great destination for divers and non-divers alike, fun shopping, historical island tours, a beautifully restored 1919 movie theater that plays first run movies.
Our trips include round trip ferry transportation from Long Beach, four nights hotel accommodations, two days of three tank boat dives, tank and weight rentals for a day of shore diving at the Casino Point Dive Park.

Dive Neah Bay August 2015

 HydroSports has reserved LuJac's Quest in early August 2015 for three to four days of boat dives near Neah Bay, Washington.
Neah Bay is near the mouth of the Straight of San Juan de Fuca and offers some of the very best cold water diving in the world.
Nutrient rich Pacific Ocean water flows daily past the rocky shoreline feeding abundant varieties of marine life.
Six of us just returned from three days of diving with Captain Phil Jensen and had a super time diving the San Juan Islands. We're stoked to rejoin Captain Phil next year.
