New DUI Options
Effective immediately, DUI is very excited to offer divers the choice of TiZip® and YKK® waterproof zippers on all DUI drysuits*.
The reason DUI offers both is because no two divers' needs are alike and both zippers have unique benefits.
TiZip MasterSeal plastic zippers offer divers greater flexibility, it conforms better to the body, it has a smooth operating slider and they are easy to clean.
YKK metal zippers are proven, have a higher breaking strength and, when lubricated, will last for more cycles.
Click HERE to learn more about the history of waterproof zippers, the exhaustive testing done by DUI as well as the pros and cons of each type of waterproof zipper.
In addition, DUI is pleased to also offer divers the choice of drysuit hoses; rubber or the new MiFlex Xtreme. Both come with an large quick disconnect making it easy to use by a diver wearing gloves for cool/cold water diving. Click HERE to learn the benefits of each type of drysuit hose.

Having celebrated HydroSports 17th year as a PADI Retail Association Member, the start of our 200th Open Water Diver class and another birthday, I say it's time to shake things up at HydroSports.
As you might know HydroSports rotates out our rental BCDs and regulators every three years. Right now is that time. If you're interested in a great deal on a well-cared-for kit, come by the shop ASAP. For full information read the article below.
What's going into the rental fleet?
Atomic regulators, Zeagle Ranger BCDs and Oceanic Veo computers. As a member of the Huish Outdoors dealer network, HydroSports is making a major investment in Atomic products.
In addition to our rental gear, we'll have a full compliment of Atomic mask, fins, snorkels and the Atomic Cobalt II computer for sale in the shop. We expect to have our Atomic gear in stock by late July.
Can you say REBREATHER?

Tiny tanks, no bubbles, silent, looooonger dives, better buoyancy control, WARM moist air to breath, amazing marine life interaction. HydroSports just ordered two Poseidon MKVI rebreathers. Kristen and I will be participating in training in mid-August. Once you complete your MKVI training you'll be able to rent Poseidon rebreathers at HydroSports. Click HERE for an invitation to our Poseidon Rebreather Test Dive opportunity later this year.
And our professional staff continues to grow! Recent Divemaster additions to our team are Jonathan Chancery, Matt Lavier and Brian Dirks. We have plenty of room for you on our professional team. Interested in becoming a Divemaster? Come see us at the shop and we'll review the transformation.
Our Summer Open Water Diver Special ends August 28. For $320 a student gets their books, certification application, instruction, their choice of several masks, snorkel, fins and gloves (these become the property of the diver as soon as the class fee is paid) and rental gear for the class. Most dive classes are $250 or so, PLUS books, PLUS purchasing mask, snorkel, fins and gloves. HydroSports Summer Special will save a new diver nearly $200.
Clip the coupon in this email and share it with a non-diving friend and have them sign up for class by the end of August!
As Kelly and Noel are fond of saying:
"Let's Go Diving. Let's Go!"
What can we do to help you reach your diving goals and dreams? Don't hesitate to let us know.
Best regards,
Mark Fischer and the entire HydroSports Education Team.

HydroSports Rental Gear Sale
HydroSports rental gear only goes on sale every few years. We have 20 new sets of Atomic regulators, Zeagle BCDs and Oceanic computers coming in July. We need to sell much of our existing rental gear to make room for the new gear.
Shawn has recently inspected and performed annual service on all our Zeagle Envoy regulators and our Zeagle Stiletto BCDs. These items are 3 to 6 years old and have been used in our rental fleet. We believe each item is in sound working condition and is ready for use.
We have Zeagle Stiletto BCDs in sizes small to XL. The regulators are all Zeagle Envoys with primary and alternate second stages and three gauge consoles. We have a limited number of Sherwood Profile computer consoles available.
Visit the shop soon to choose the best gear for you.

Dive Club Meeting July 16
Twin tanks and rebreathers and trimix, Oh My!
HydroSports is pleased to introduce Stewart Tanner, a tremendous addition to our Education Team.
Stew will be our featured speaker at our July 16 Dive Club meeting. If you've ever wondered why anyone would dive beyond the recreational dive limits, if you're in good enough physical shape to be a technical diver, what the costs and training requirements of technical diving are, please join us July 16 at 6:30 PM. If you have no interest in technical diving, join us to welcome Stew to our family. If you're planning to attend the July 16 club meeting please click HERE.
Stew grew up on the beaches of Southern California surfing, fishing, snorkeling and sailing. First certified in 1987 he didn't pursue diving as a career. In 2007 Stew married and re-certified before his honeymoon. The hood was set. Stew soon became a PADI Instructor and quickly earned the rank of Master Instructor, TDI Technical Instructor, Poseidon Rebreather Instructor and US Coast Guard 100 Ton Master.
Dedicated to safety and leading by example, Stew will be bringing his passion for teaching technical diving, both open circuit and rebreather diving, to HydroSports.

Dive the San Juan Islands October 4 through 6
Board LuJac's Quest in Anacortes, Washington, Saturday morning October 4 and prepare for three days of spectacular San Juan Islands diving.

The San Juan Islands offer world class cold water diving. Underwater, the San Juans are the land of the giants; Giant Acorn Barnacles, Giant Plumose Anemones, and the Giant Pacific Octopus. You'll also find rocks completely encrusted with sponges, cup corals, tunicates, and over a dozen different types of anemones. Red, purple and green sea urchins, nudibranchs of every shape and color, Puget Sound King Crab and a full range of sea stars crawl over the reefs while rockfish, lingcod and wolf eels swim through the waters.
Keep a sharp lookout for false teeth chomping in midwater about 50 to 60 feet deep. Nope. Not false teeth, swimming scallops, sure to make you laugh and flood your mask. Be sure to check out some videos made diving off at Deception Pass, and at Long Island Wall in the San Juans.
 | Anemones at Long Island Wall |
 | Diving Deception Pass |
Our trip includes three days of two-tank dives, lunch aboard each day, two nights lodging in Friday Harbor at the Friday Harbor Suites,
two days of hot breakfast at Friday Harbor Suites.
The trip does not include lodging in Anacortes October 3, breakfast October 4, air or nitrox fills, dinner or souvenirs in Friday Harbor or transportation to Anacortes.
We board at 7:30 AM Saturday October 4 in Anacortes, spend the nights of October 4 and 5 in Friday Harbor and disembark the afternoon of October 6 in Anacortes.
The trip cost is $449 per person. A $100 non-refundable deposit is due with your reservation. The trip balance is due September 10.

Annual Clear Lake Camp 'N Dive Weekend
August 8, 9 and 10
Every August we make a pilgrimage to Clear Lake on or near the full moon.

Clear Lake was formed when a volcanic lava flow created a basin which later filled with cold water erupting from the Cascade Aquifer. When the lake formed stands of pine trees were submerged in the water. So cold is the water that insects and bacteria that would normally consume the trees cannot grow. The result are preserved forests below the waterline.
During the summer we frequently see visibility in the 250 to 300 foot range. The lake bottom is volcanic ash so staying well above the bottom and checking one's trim in the water are important to preserving the spectacular conditions. The lake is dotted with vents from which erupts water that fills the lake. Volcanic cinder cones rise from the bottom reminding us of the lakes molten past.
We choose to dive near the full moon in hopes of a clear sky and high moon. When these to events coincide one can dive the lake at night without a dive light. Moonlight can be so bright that diver's shadows are clearly cast on the lake bed.
We have reserved two 8 person cabins for the weekend. Come join us. Bring your family for a day or the weekend. Camp sites are available on a first come first served basis. Some cabins may still be available from the Linn County Parks and Recreation District that manages the lake.
If you'd like to share one of our cabins please call HydroSports as soon as possible.
Clear Lake is at an altitude of 3100+ feet definitely an altitude dive. We'll be offering special prices on the PADI Altitude Diver Specialty this weekend. Call the shop for information.
