MWHS Seniors Take Third in State--
In Stock Market Game
Second semester each year, the economics classes at Mound Westonka High School compete with students around the state in the Stock Market Game. In 2016, 753 Minnesota high school teams participated, including close to 30 teams from MWHS. The team of MWHS seniors Tanya Einafshar, Tim Gorlov, Sofia Ortiz and Paige Warren finished third in the state this year.
 
Forty-Nine Community Scholarships Awarded--
To MWHS Class of 2016

Forty-three members of the 2016 Mound Westonka High School graduating class were awarded scholarships worth over $68,000 at the 16th Annual Scholarship Awards Night on May 11.

"Congratulations to all students recognized at the Scholarship Awards Night," said MWHS Principal Mark McIlmoyle. "These scholarships will have incredible impact on the post-secondary plans of our students."
 
Westonka 5K FUNd Color Run--
Important Information

Follow the link for everything you need to know about the 2016 Westonka 5K FUNd Color Run. The color run will begin at 9 a.m. sharp at the track at Mound Westonka High School on Saturday, May 21. There's still time to register for this fun community event!
 
Star Athletes Recognized--
At Annual Awards Breakfast
 
Mound Westonka High School celebrated standout athletes from the 2016 graduating class at the Yost-Haddorff-Leopold Athletic Recognition Breakfast May 12 at the Gillespie Center in Mound. The event recognized this year's Athena and Yost-Haddorff-Leopold Award winners, as well as senior three-season athletes, declared college athletes and state tournament participants.
 
Free Breakfast and Lunch for Kids--
This Summer at MWHS
Westonka Public Schools is once again participating in the summer food service program. 

Meals will be provided to all children ages 1-18 at no cost at Mound Westonka High School starting June 8 and running through August 25 (closed July 4-7).
 
Enjoy a Day at Deer Run Golf Club--
To Support Westonka's DARE Program
Spring is here and it's time to register for the Crime Prevention Fund 25th Golf Scramble Fundraiser benefitting Minnetrista and Orono police departments' DARE programs. The event will be held on Friday, June 3, at Deer Run Golf Club with a 1 p.m. shotgun start.

Westonka Voters Pass Referendum
In a May 10 special election, the citizens of the Westonka School District approved a referendum that will fund the construction of a performing arts center and a community athletics center. The vote passed by over a 2-to-1 margin.

Tigers pluck White Hawks for five straight
A first-half scoring surge helped the Hutchinson Tigers girls lacrosse team soar past the Mound Westonka White Hawks, 14-6, for their fifth straight win of the season.

Litch boys take second at home
The Litchfield boys golf team took second at its home invite May 12, as the Dragons fired a 162 to beat third-place Mound Westonka by one stroke to tie the White Hawks on the season.
Sports Highlights
Boys Track Claims Conference Championship
For the first time in several decades, the Mound Westonka High School boys track and field team is the conference champion. The White Hawks claimed an upset win at the Wright County West Conference Meet on May 17.
 

Rainouts Make for Busy End to Softball Season
A series of rainouts condensed the end of the conference season for the Mound Westonka High School softball team. On May 14, the White Hawks hosted a makeup doubleheader with the Litchfield Dragons. The teams split the games with one win apiece.

Boys Tennis Defeats Delano
The Mound Westonka High School boys tennis team took on its final Wright County Conference opponent May 12 when they faced off against Delano. The White Hawks were victorious at home with a 5-2 win.
