Referendum Absentee/Early Voting--
Open at Westonka District Office
Absentee/early voting is now open for the Westonka Schools special election bond referendum. Visit the Educational Service Center during regular business hours to cast your vote.
 
Westonka residents will vote on a single-question bond referendum to build a 600-seat performing arts center and a community athletics and recreation center at Mound Westonka High School.
 
27 Westonka Students Compete--
At State Archery Tournament
The Westonka Archery program sent 27 students to Bemidji April 1-2 for the Minnesota NASP State Archery Tournament. Despite the competition being held over the Westonka's spring break, the students made the trip and represented the district, and community, with pride and maturity.

Grandview Seventh-grader Takes the Stage--
At Regional Spelling Bee
Grandview Middle School seventh-grader Hayden Jones competed at the March 20 Minnesota Public Radio Metro Area Regional Spelling Bee, where he advanced to the second round.

MWHS Junior Builds Little Free Library at WeCAN--
As Eagle Scout Project
The Western Communities Action Network (WeCAN) is now home to a Little Free Library, thanks to the efforts of Austin Goddard of Mound. Goddard, a 17-year-old junior at Mound Westonka High School, took on the project as one of the requirements of becoming an Eagle Scout.
 
Hilltop Students Jump Rope--
For American Heart Association
Hilltop Primary School students, led by the Hilltop Student Council, participated in the American Heart Association Jump Rope for Heart campaign in March.

All students in grades K-4 recorded their individual jumps for 60 seconds during P.E. This year, they completed 20,091 jumps!
 
Join the Colorful Community Fundraiser--
Register Today for the Westonka 5K FUNd Run
Westonka Schools are partnering to present the 2nd Annual 5k FUNd Color Run on Saturday, May 21.

Participants can run, walk, skip or dance their way around the course, while going through color powder stations. After the run, everyone can enjoy the colorful after party with a DJ, dancing, food trucks and color throws.

Proceeds from the fundraiser will be used for personalized learning spaces at each school.
 
Calling MWHS Students Looking for Summer Work--
Don't Miss the Westonka Job Fair!
Are you a high school student in need of a summer job? You're in luck!

Westonka Community Education and Services is hosting a job fair on Saturday, April 23 from 9 to 11 a.m. in the Mound Westonka High School cafeteria. The event is free and open to anyone (ages 14+) but is specifically designed for high school-aged students looking for summer employment opportunities.
 
'The Lion King Jr.' Hits the Stage--
At Grandview Middle School 
Grandview Middle School and Westonka Community Education and Services will present "The Lion King Jr." April 14-17.

Performances are set for 7 p.m. on April 14 and 15 and 2 p.m. on April 16 and 17. Tickets are available at the door. 
 
Registration Opens April 12--
For Summer Community Ed. Programs 
The 2016 Westonka Community Education Summer Brochure is now available for you to preview online.

Registration for all courses will open on Tuesday, April 12.

This year's featured speaker is Kevin Borg, superintendent of Westonka Public Schools. Borg's topic is "What about the kids? Demographics, Engagement, Help."

5K returns after successful first year
Following a successful first year, organizers are again preparing for the Westonka 5K FUNd Run, the second annual colorful fun run/walk to support Westonka Schools.

The Mound Westonka High School baseball teams are trying to get ready for their season already as the weather has allowed the teams to get outside much earlier than in past years.

MWHS Pitchers Team Up for No-Hitter in Opener
Four Mound Westonka High School pitchers baffled Lester Prairie/Holy Trinity and teamed up to throw a no-hitter for the White Hawks in a 12-1 victory in five innings in Tuesday's baseball home opener.
