On May 10, Westonka residents will vote on a single-question bond referendum to build a 600-seat performing arts center and a community athletics and recreation center at Mound Westonka High School. Visit the referendum website to:

All-School CPR/AED Training at MWHS--
Prepares Students, Staff to Save Lives

There was a disco revival at Mound Westonka High School last week when students and staff came home Thursday humming the Bee Gees' classic "Stayin' Alive." The 1977 hit was the unofficial theme song for an all-school CPR and automated external defibrillator (AED) training March 10.

Wagner Wins Athena Award--
For Multisport Excellence

Mound Westonka High School is proud to name senior Sydney Wagner as this year's Athena Award recipient. Candidates for this "outstanding female athlete" award must demonstrate excellence in individual or group sports.
"Sydney Wagner has been an outstanding leader at MWHS," said Activities Director Jeff Peterson. "She has been a three-sport athlete, competing in tennis, dance and track, while maintaining a GPA of 3.9. We are lucky to have her leadership!"

MWHS DECA Heads to Internationals--

A total of 20 Mound Westonka High School students are headed to Nashville next month for the 2016 DECA International Career Development Conference after placing high enough in their respective events in the state competition.

Of Shirley Hills Imagination Fair
|
Shirley Hills Primary School hosted its annual Imagination Fair on March 3.
A total of 58 entries were presented in eight categories: natural science, earth science, technology, history and social studies, music and art, kits, writing and language arts and imagination.

Westonka FIRST Robotics--
Competes at Regionals
|
Westonka Robotics launched a new team with a new league this year. The annual FIRST™ Robotics Regional Competition was held March 2-5 in Duluth, Minnesota, with 120 teams participating.
With some serious teamwork and hard work over the four-day event, the Westonka team was able to compete in over 12 matches with their robot and placed 38th out of 60 teams in the Northern Lights division.

Don't Miss the All-District Choir Concert--
Monday Night at MWHS
|
Celebrate spring at the All-District Choir Concert on Monday, March 21, at 7:30 p.m. in the Mound Westonka High School gym.
The concert will feature performances by students in grades 5 through 12 from each choir at Grandview Middle School and MWHS, including Madd Jazz.

Cameron Porter, product engineer for Target Corporation, visited two Project Lead the Way Engineering classes at Mound Westonka High School on March 16.
Porter spoke about his educational and career paths and gave advice to students interested in pursuing degrees and careers in engineering.

The MWHA Peewee A team is the 2015-16 State Champion.
Sixth grade team wins MYAS C1 Grade State Championship
The Westonka sixth grade girls basketball team won the MYAS C1 Grade State Championship over the weekend of March 5-6.

MWHS math minds compete in grueling 14-hour math challenge
While most of their peers were still snug in their beds on a recent Saturday morning, five Mound Westonka High School students embarked on a 14-hour mathematical modeling challenge that tested their mental acuity, creativity, teamwork and concentration.
MWHS choir members showcase talent
The Mound Westonka High School Concert Choir earned a Superior rating in the Region 2AA Large Group Choir Contest at Dassel-Cokato High School on Feb. 29.

6th Grade Girls are State Basketball Champs
The Westonka Youth Basketball Association 6th Grade Girls Black team won the C1 state championship March 6. The White Hawks earned a 21-19 win over Mounds View to clinch the title. Congratulations!
Westonka Peewee A Wins State Championship
The Mound Westonka Hockey Association Peewee A team won the state championship March 13. The White Hawks defeated Johnson Como North St. Paul 4-2 for the win. Congratulations!
