Important Updates from Monday's Board Meeting--
On Facilities Planning, District Calendar
Short- and long-term facilities planning and the district calendar were among the main topics of discussion at the Dec. 7 school board meeting. On Monday night, the board learned the results of a community survey on district facilities, approved the district's lease levy and had a first reading of next year's district calendar.

School Board Thanks Outgoing Member David Bond--
For Dedicated Service
On Monday night, the Westonka School Board bid farewell to outgoing board member David Bond. 

Bond served four years on the board, playing an active role on the school board facilities committee. 

MWHS Students Celebrate--
With Season of Giving
The Mound Westonka High School first-quarter celebration assembly had all of the usual things--medals, awards, prizes, music and more. 

But it also included something even more special--a celebration of giving.

MWHS Honors Distinguished Students--
For First-Quarter Achievements
Mound Westonka High School students who exhibited outstanding effort, citizenship and academic achievement for the first quarter of the 2015-2016 school year were honored at the quarterly Distinguished Student Breakfasts at the high school Dec. 3 and 4.

Be an Angel for a Child in Need--
Sponsor a Student's School Meals
Over 350 Westonka students may not have enough to eat on a daily basis. Please consider sponsoring a child's school breakfast and lunch with a donation to the Westonka Food and Nutrition Services Angel Fund.

A $25 donation sponsors a child's school meals for one week, and $100 provides a month of healthy meals.

Hear Songs of the Season--
At MWHS Holiday Choir Concert Dec. 14
The community is invited to the Holiday Choir Concert at Mound Westonka High School on Monday, Dec. 14, at 7:30 p.m. in the gym. 

The event will feature seasonal music from the White Hawk Choir, Varsity Choir, Concert Choir and Madd Jazz.

The Westonka Activities Department is proud to name Mound Westonka High School sophomore Torsten Lee Westonka Athletic/Activities Students of the Week for the week of Dec. 7, 2015.

Sports Highlights
White Hawks Wrestlers Take Third at Fridley Invite
The Mound Westonka High School wrestling squad took home third-place honors at the Fridley Invitational on Saturday, Dec. 5. The White Hawks placed eight of nine wrestlers with four champions.
 

Girls Basketball Opens Season with Two Losses
The White Hawks girls basketball team opened the season with two home losses. The young team is athletic and fast but gave opponents free throw opportunities after getting into foul trouble.

Boys Hockey Loses Three in Busy Week
The Mound Westonka boys hockey team had a busy schedule Dec. 1-5, playing three games in five days. They lost 4-2 to the Blake Bears, 2-1 to the Rochester Eagles and 2-1 to the Minnehaha Academy Redhawks.
