Westonka is the Team to Beat--
At State DECA Competition

The Westonka School District is relatively small, but when it comes to DECA, Westonka is a powerhouse. This year, over 18 percent of Mound Westonka High School students, grades 9-12, made it to state in DECA, a highly-competitive leadership and entrepreneurship program.

Westonka brought 113 high school students to compete at the 2015 Minnesota DECA State Career Development Conference March 8-10. Westonka advanced 59 students to the state finals, and approximately 32 MWHS students placed high enough in their respective events to compete at the 2015 DECA International Career Development Conference, which will be held April 25-28 in Orlando.

Professional Engineers Challenge AP Physics Class--
To Scrambler Competition
In celebration of National Engineers Week, a group of professional engineers challenged Mound Westonka High School AP Physics students to an Engineering Scrambler competition.

Students were tasked with building cars out of commonly found materials that could be propelled by a falling mass and travel a set distance. The goal was simple: to build a car that could travel the closest to the set distance, in the fastest time. To add to the challenge, a raw egg was affixed to the front of each car.
