Shirley Hills Welcomes Hundreds of Special Visitors--
On Grandfriends Day
Over 540 special guests attended Grandfriends Day at Shirley Hills Primary School on Nov. 14. Principal Scott Eidsness said, "It was truly a fun experience for all of us ... further proof that Shirley Hills is 'Out of This World!'"

Provides Authentic Learning Experiences
Westonka Public Schools is utilizing local business connections to create authentic learning experiences for students. A.J. Aumock, BU marketing leader for Corn Milling North America at Cargill, visited Stephanie Lolich's marketing class at Mound Westonka High School Tuesday morning to give students real-world insight into consumer market research.

'Band Geeks' is a Hit--
Students Perform to Sellout Crowds

The Mound Westonka High School Theatre Department presented four energetic performances of the musical comedy "Band Geeks" Nov. 13-16. Assistant director Meagan Anderson said, "We were fortunate enough to have the support from our school and community to have completely sold out crowds for our Friday, Saturday and Sunday shows!"

  

Martin Signs with Peacocks--
To Play DII Basketball
On Nov. 17, Mound Westonka High School senior Haley Martin signed a National Letter of Intent to play NCAA Division II basketball at Upper Iowa University next season. 

Martin gave the Peacocks a verbal commitment over the summer, but she made it official in front of White Hawks teammates, coaches, families and fans after practice Tuesday.

White Hawks Post Best-Ever State Finish

The six Mound Westonka-Holy Family girls swim team members that advanced to the Class A State Swim Meet Nov. 13 and 14 had the best performances in White Hawks team history. The girls placed 16th out of 42 teams.

Westonka Bantam A is Consolation Champion

The Westonka Bantam A hockey team was consolation champion in its first tournament of the year, the

prestigious Coon Rapids Cardinal Classic.

The White Hawks seventh-grade girls basketball team took second place at the Rockford Showcase Girls Basketball Tournament Nov. 15 and 16.
