Westonka Receives Good News from Auditors--
District Works to Preserve Strong Financial Standing
Staff Kevin Borg Superintendent
Auditors at the Oct. 6 Westonka School Board meeting gave the district an unqualified or "clean" opinion--the best opinion a district can receive.

The auditors reported that our district's revenue and expenses came in slightly better than projected last year. Westonka has an unassigned fund balance of $3,146,762, or 12% of general fund expenditures.

This is the result of our community's generous support of our local levies and the hard work and decisions made by our staff and school board.

Please read the Borg Report for more information on the district's financial position.

Preserving the Westonka Edge--
Nov. 4 Levy Renewals

On Tuesday, Nov. 4, Westonka residents will be asked to vote on two important school funding requests that will have a critical impact on current and future students of Westonka Public Schools.

The operating levy renewal request is about continuing progress in improving student achievement. The capital projects levy renewal is about accelerating student achievement through the use of technology.

White Hawks Give Back--
During Homecoming and Beyond

Under the leadership of head coach Nick David, the Mound Westonka White Hawks football team has been making big impressions, both on and off the field.

Since coming on as head coach in 2013, David has been working to build a solid foundation for the football program, which completed its first two-win season since 2005. In addition to moving in the right direction on the gridiron, the White Hawks football players are becoming role models for their peers and for younger students through various "giving back" initiatives in their schools and community.

Trio of Vocalists Selected--
For State Honor Choir

Three Westonka students have been selected to the American Choral Directors Association of Minnesota State 7-8 Girls' Honor Choir. Grandview Middle School seventh-grader Emma Mack and Mound Westonka High School eighth-graders Sarah Brammer and Grace Etherington were among the 150 students chosen to participate out of 475 girls who auditioned.
