New Weekend Food Program--
Launches in Westonka Primaries
|
Over 212,000 Minnesota children currently live in food insecurity and do not always know if they will receive their next meal. Food insecurity exists in every public school in the state of Minnesota, including in the Westonka School District. While there are many programs providing lunch and breakfast to children at school, the weekends remain a gap during which children struggle with hunger.
A new partnership between the Westonka School District, Woodridge Church in Medina and The Sheridan Story is working to close that gap at Hilltop and Shirley Hills primary schools.
