Celebrate the Season--
At the MWHS Holiday Choir Concert
Celebrate the season at the Holiday Choir Concert, featuring the Mound Westonka High School Concert Choir, Varsity Women's Choir, White Hawk Choir and Madd Jazz. 
 
The event will be held Monday, Dec. 16, at 7:30 p.m. in the MWHS gym.
 
MWHS Students Receive 'Golden Tickets'--
For First Quarter Achievements
There were new surprises during Celebration Day at Mound Westonka High School this quarter. 
 
Instead of holding a large assembly during the school day to celebrate first quarter student achievements, high school students had "golden tickets" delivered to their second, third or fourth period classes on Dec. 6.
 
Hundreds Brave Cold--
For Winter Band Concert
 

The Mound Westonka High School Winter Band Concert, featuring more than 100 MWHS students in Concert Band, Symphonic Band and Wind Ensemble, was a "complete success," according to director Gretchen Chilson. "Nearly 400 people turned up on a very cold night to support our musicians!" Chilson said.

Recognized at Quarterly Breakfasts
 

A total of 26 Mound Westonka High School students who exhibited outstanding effort, citizenship and academic achievement for the first quarter of the 2013-2014 school year were honored at the quarterly Distinguished Student breakfasts at the high school last week. 

 
Large Turnout at Hilltop--
For Family Fun Night

Hilltop Family Fun Night attracted a large turnout of students and their families, despite the cold weather on Dec. 5. The event included book bingo, reading, book fair, crafts and a terrific spaghetti dinner. 

 

A total of 68 students in kindergarten through fourth grade also took part in the Hilltop Science Fair. Their exhibits were judged by Mound Westonka High School students on Dec. 6.

The Mound Westonka High School wrestling squad hosted the first-ever Turkey Burn Invite on Saturday, Nov. 30, at Mound Westonka High School.

After two close losses, the Mound Westonka White Hawks picked up a thrilling 93-91 victory over Waconia on Saturday, Dec. 7 to move to 1-2 on the season.

The Mound Westonka White Hawks dropped to 0-5 on the season last week with losses to Wayzata and Waconia.

Scoreless for the game's first 38 minutes, it was a flurry of action over the final 13 minutes of regulation Saturday between Chaska/Chanhassen and Mound Westonka.

Tie in Overtime

Despite outshooting non-conference opponent Irondale 42-21, including 10-3 in overtime, the Mound Westonka High School boys hockey team settled for a 1-1 tie in the Dec. 5 matchup in Blaine.

The Mound Westonka High School wrestling squad captured its first-ever Fridley Invitational team championship on Dec. 7.

Bowling Season Ends--

With Ninth-Place Finish at State

The Westonka bowling club team celebrated a ninth-place finish in the state tournament, which took place Dec. 7 at Flaherty's Arden Bowl in Arden Hills.

WCC Welcomes New Prague--

Forms Two Divisions in 2014

Wright County Conference membership will grow in 2014 with the addition of New Prague. This will allow the WCC to form two divisions in sports that are offered by all 12 conference schools and to continue to have one division in sports with less than full participation
