CCC LogoChanges to the 2012/13 CCC race calendar including reinstatement of 30k/50k at Ski Nationals 2013

We would like to thank athletes, coaches and members of the cross-country skiing community for sharing their thoughts regarding the long distance races at Ski Nationals 2013. From the CCC Events Committee's perspective it was felt that the changes as originally stated could be positive for racers, organizers and volunteers. However, in response to member feedback and after consultation with the respective Organizing Committees, the CCC Events Committee is pleased to confirm the following changes to the CCC Calendar for 2012-13.

The CCC Events Committee wishes to thank those who provided input on these issues over the past couple of weeks and we wish everyone good training and racing in the coming months.

Two new linear 38 km and 55 km classic style courses will link Lake Philippe to Mont-Bleu High School in Gatineau. The president of the Gatineau Loppet, Mr. Yan Michaud, is "extremely pleased to offer this 35th anniversary gift for ski lovers in the region and abroad."

Did you know that athletes who get an extra amount of sleep are more likely to improve their performance in a game?

Elite athletes push their bodies to extremes every day. This brings with it a considerable degree of physical fatigue while training, traveling and competing. Where fractions of a second often mean the difference between a win and a loss, studies have shown that there is competitive advantage to those athletes who recognize the value of recovery. To stay on top, keeping the body healthy is not just about nutrition and training but also knowing the importance of a good night's sleep.
