Worried about your crape myrtle not leafing out? It's still a bit early (they are notoriously late to leaf out); sit tight and give it a few more weeks. You can lightly scratch the bark of twigs to determine if it's dead or alive. Green tissue is what you're looking for.

We're all ears; it's time to buy and plant elephant ear bulbs! If you want that exotic look in your garden or planters, upright or large-leaved varieties create instant paradise in sunny or part shade locations.

Got space in your veggie garden? Remember The Interfaith Nutrition Network's (The INN) soup kitchens. An extra plant or two (of your favorite veggies) goes a long way to helping feed those in need. Martin Viette is a designated drop-off for all INN food donations - perishable and non-perishable. Thank you!

Water, water, water! It's dry and that means only one thing - you need to water! Use a soaker hose to deliver water to where it's needed most - the roots. New and established plants will benefit from proper watering when Mother Nature doesn't provide.

Hoop peonies before they become too top heavy and floppy. Use a peony hoop to keep them upright so you can enjoy their beautiful flowers. ! If you snooze, you lose...you'll never get the hoops on maturing peonies. Hoops - in various heights and styles - are readily available at Martin Viette.
