Dreaming about spring? 15 days and counting. . .

What's going on in the early March garden?
Looking for an easy-to-care-for, easy-to-love houseplant? Think bromeliads - adaptable and colorful for the home, office or dorm! Guzmania and Aechmea are the more popular varieties for indoor growing. Long lasting flowers - some varieties provide three plus months of flowering color.

How to grow: Bromeliads are best grown in bright, indirect light. Soil should dry ever so slightly between waterings. (A word to the wise - good soil drainage is essential as overwatering is a sure death sentence for bromeliads.) If you look closely at the leaf arrangement, you'll notice bromeliads form a 'cup' that provides moisture for the leaves. Keep the cup filled with water; remember to change the water in the cup once a week. Normal house temperatures are best - 65-85 F day; 50-65F night.

Did you know? Pineapples are bromeliads! Have a bromeliad? Give it a summer vacation outdoors; it will adore the extra humidity!
