We are still 10 days away from the last average frost date of April 20th. This is an average, not a hard fast date (translation - frosts can still occur after April 20th). Better to be safe, than sorry!
Be on the lookout for weeds sprouting in landscape beds and borders. Not sure what the weed is or how to control it? Bring it to us; we'll identify it and give you choices for dealing with it!
Before you dig-in to gardening this spring. . .Check your tools, and clean and sharpen them if needed. Our Garden Center carries a complete line of comfortable gardening tools for every need.
It's been tough times for landscape plants - bitterly-cold winter, snow storms, and ice - to name a few. Give your plants a needed shot-in-the-arm; fertilize all, including roses, now. Keep it simple - use Holly-tone for acid-loving plants; Rose-tone for roses, and Plant-tone for everything else.

The Interfaith Nutrition Network, 'The INN', is the largest human service agency of its kind on Long Island, providing daily assistance to the many needy people living in our communities. Their shelters and soup kitchens are always in need of donations. We ask for your help throughout the winter by donating non-perishable food items. A collection bin is located outside the main doors at Martin Viette's. Your donations will be brought to the INN for distribution. We thank you for any assistance that you can provide.
