Fittonia argryoneura 'Mini White', commonly called Mosaic or Nerve plant, is an interesting tropical plant (houseplant). Prized for its showy leaves with highly pronounced white veins (coloration), FMW can be used in homes, offices or dorms.
Fittonia is a low maintenance plant when given the right growing conditions. Light: Low to medium light areas that offer some humidity are best. (Consider using a pebble tray to increase needed humidity.) You can give them a summer vacation from Memorial Day through Labor Day; place pots in dappled light. Water: Soil should be allowed to dry just slightly between waterings. (This does not mean NO water!) And never let the plant 'sit' in water. One key point: keep Fittonia away from sources of direct heat - radiators, fireplaces.
Fertilizer: Fittonias should be fertilized during the growing season with Jack's 20-20-20 all-purpose houseplant fertilizer. Repot: only when needed. And when you do, use an all-purpose potting soil.
Uses: terrariums, planters, hanging baskets.

The Interfaith Nutrition Network, 'The INN', is the largest human service agency of its kind on Long Island, providing daily assistance to the many needy people living in our communities.
