Colder temperatures mean it's firewood season once again. Firewood tips: Bring in only a few days worth of wood at a given time. The woodpile should be accessible to a nearby door, stacked and covered. Need firewood? We have split seasoned wood, rings and fire starters. For your convenience, delivery can be easily arranged. Bundled birch logs, perfect to dress-up a fireplace, are also available.

Check the reservoir in your Christmas tree stand daily for water; replenish as needed. A dry tree is a dangerous tree.

If you have a few gardeners - young or old, novice or seasoned - on your holiday list, consider giving kits of amaryllis. Everything is packaged- bulb, pot, soil and directions. All you have to do is give it - with love!
A is for Amaryllis! The beautiful, trumpet-shaped flowers of amaryllis announce the arrival of the Holidays with such style! Amaryllis, formally known as Hippeastrum species, is an absolute favorite with customers and staff at Martin Viette.

Easy to grow and enjoy, potted amaryllis - in bud and bloom - make your holiday decorations shine. They are beautiful to use as a centerpiece on your dining room table or as an accent plant in the foyer or on the mantle.

Helpful hint: Flowering amaryllis will last longer when you provide the proper growing conditions. Cooler locations in the home allow the flowers to last longer. (Amaryllis that are placed in hot rooms fade very, very quickly!) Keep the soil moist but never saturated. Once they begin to bloom, amaryllis are not that fussy about available light.

As the countdown to the Holidays continues, we've extended our shopping hours for your convenience. Shop Martin Viette in East Norwich Sunday through Thursday 9-6pm; and Friday and Saturday 9am to 7pm through December 21. We will be open on Christmas Eve until 6pm.
It's the last weekend to see Santa before he heads back to the North Pole! Join us this Saturday and Sunday, 1pm - 5pm for a one-on-one visit with the jolly guy himself! Santa promises to be good to all that have been nice (and maybe a few that have been naughty). So, let him know what you're wishing for this Christmas. Bring the children, bring the camera!

If you can't see Santa in person, you can always write to him on his special stationary, and then pin it to his bulletin board in the Wreaths and Greens Room at Martin Viette. We'll make sure it gets to the North Pole before Christmas!

The only things missing - the fragrance (our Fraser Fir candles will remedy that) and messy dropped needles on the rug or floor. The Interfaith Nutrition Network, 'The INN', is the largest human service agency of its kind on Long Island, providing daily assistance to the many needy people living in our communities. Their shelters and soup kitchens are always in need of donations. We ask for your help throughout the winter by donating non-perishable food items. A collection bin is located outside the main doors at Martin Viette's. Your donations will be brought to the INN for distribution. We thank you for any assistance that you can provide.
