Calandiva, formally known as Kalanchoe blossfeldiana 'Calandiva', is a great low maintenance flowering houseplant. Pretty scalloped leaves give rise to tight clusters of double flowers (yellows, oranges, pinks, purples, or whites) that persist for weeks indoors in the home.
Easy care, Calandivas are useful in mixed planters or as solo stunners in decorative pots. Perfect for bright sunny spots, allow the potting soil to dry slightly between waterings. If you've grown and enjoyed flowering Kalanchoe, treat Calandiva exactly the same way.

We have pumpkins! Actually, 1000's of pumpkins to choose from, including the ever-popular Jack-Be-Littles (great for tiny hands) to large pumpkins for carving or decorating. You're sure to find that perfect pumpkin or two! Little kids (and big kids, too!) make a dash to our pumpkin patch where they'll enjoy selecting pumpkins scattered over a grassy lawn. You really can plant it all in the fall! Many of us are 'conditioned' to think that all planting chores must be done in the spring. True, spring gives us the big push to start the vegetable garden; plant flowering annuals in pots, planters and landscape beds; and add some roses and other interests to the landscape. Once summer hits, hot weather can stifle even the most avid gardener (think back to the scorching July weather we experienced!). And then fall arrives and the urge to 'dig in' happens once again.
If you've been waiting to add new trees, shrubs, perennials, or bulbs to your gardens, the wait is over! Why? Long Island is typically blessed with an extended growing season in the fall.
