Record Breakers Summer Reading Challenge
|

This years Summer Reading Challenge theme is Record Breakers. Children will be challenged to read at least six books during the summer. All children who take part will be given a collectors folder full of weird and wonderful record breaking facts to record their summer reading. For each book they read they will add stickers to complete their folder - some are very smelly!
Those who complete the challenge will be rewarded with a certificate and a medal at special presentation ceremonies in September. Guinness World Records inspires and celebrates personal bests, so what better way to challenge yourself than to get involved with Record Breakers this summer. If you're looking for some great book suggestions, then why not visit the new-look Book Sorter.
Entry is free and all children who sign up will receive a log book.

Review of Library Service
|
Thank you to all those who responded to the initial stakeholder consultation in May. We have noted the consultation response and are now preparing detailed options for discussions with Councillors and for further public consultation in due course. We anticipate this will take place later in the year, rather than over the summer as previously advised. We are keen to continue to engage with stakeholders and if any groups would like to discuss

ImagiNation Arts and Reading Challenge
|
ImagiNation is a reading and arts activity for 11-18 year olds running across the East. The aim of ImagiNation is to enjoy reading over the summer and then get creative! You'll get a log when you join, with activities to choose from to help you express your ideas about what you have read, or record how a book made you feel. You don't have to be good at drawing and you don't have to write lots if you don't want: instead you could paint a picture, take a photo, write a poem, use music, anything creative that sparks your imagination.
You will also get the chance to be part of a collaborative artwork being made in a library near you, and to share your art and ideas with other young people here on this blog. To join, simply visit your local library this summer and ask about ImagiNation!
