World Book Day, 7 March 2013
World Book Day sees the official launch of the 8th "Read it Again!" Cambridgeshire Children's Picture Book Award.
This is an annual award for a debut picture book where the words and pictures are the work of one individual.
Thousands of children in schools across the county will read, discuss and then vote for their favourite title. The book receiving the most votes will be announced at a special presentation ceremony in early July. For further information please contact us.
St Laurence Primary School will be sending a class of children to Arbury Library to participate in a workshop about book publishing. The event has been generously sponsored by Cambridge University Press.
Many libraries will be hosting story and rhyme times and local schools will be sending classes to their nearest library. |

Chinese New Year at Willingham Library
Willingham Library hosted a fantastic event to welcome in the Chinese New Year (of the Snake) on Saturday 16 February.
We were treated to samples of Chinese food with jasmine tea, had a go at Chinese calligraphy and took part in Tai Chi demonstrations. There were Chinese colouring sheets and puzzles for the children and a lovely display of Chinese themed books which proved very popular.
Thanks go to Tammy Liu, the Royal Palace restaurant in Willingham and the Friends of Willingham Library. |
