TEEN SUMMER READING PROGRAM

Registration for the Teen Summer Reading Program

(for readers entering grades 6 through 12) begins June 19th!  

Lots of prizes to be won all summer long!

 

DIY FOR TEENS: DO IT YOURSELF BOOKS 

Bring your ideas and creativity to decorate your own book or journal.    

Open to everyone ages 10-18.

DIY FOR TEENS: DO IT YOURSELF ARTIFACTS 

Join local polymer clay artist Deb Coller to create your own special  

artifacts using clay and your imagination!    

Open to everyone ages 10-18.

DRAWING with SerWacki: UNDERGROUND CREATURES 

Join local artist Kevin SerWacki to learn to draw your own fun  

underground creatures!

FRIENDSHIP BRACELETS FOR TEENS 

Join local crafters from KwikCreations to create fun friendship bracelets.

CHESS w/ROCHESTER CHESS CENTER  

The Rochester Chess Center will be here throughout the summer.

Register for one or for all--but please register separately for each date.

Open to everyone ages 6 and up.

   TEEN COOKING: BENEATH THE SURFACE, PART 1 

Join a chef from TOPS Cooking School to create delicious treats inspired  

by things beneath the surface.  

Open to chefs ages 10-18.

TREASURE BRACELETS FOR TEENS 

Join local jewelry artist Deb Coller as she helps you design and create your  

own treasure bracelets, to keep or to give as a gift.

WASHER NECKLACES FOR TEENS 

Join local crafters from KwikCreations to create fun necklaces out of
metal washers and craft yarn.

GAMING @ THE LIBRARY 

Come for some Playstation Rock Band and Wii fun at the library!
No need to be an expert...just come and enjoy! Refreshments will be served.

KAPLAN PRACTICE PSAT 

Students take a full practice PSAT under a timed situation to see how they would score on their official test. Practice test offered by Kaplan.  Students need to bring #2 pencils and a calculator. Results and what the score means will be discussed at a follow-up session on Wednesday, August 7th, 6:30pm-7:30pm. Students will automatically be enrolled in that session and parents are welcome to attend with their students. if students cannot attend the follow-up session, their results will be emailed to them after August 7th. Note: a minimum of 15 students is required to hold the exam. if we fall below that registration requirement, we will need to cancel.  

Open to students in grades 9-11.

INDOOR SAND ART 

Not your average sand art--create pens and key chains with colored sand!

Join local jewelry artist to create a glow in the dark  

bangle bracelet using polymer clay.  

Open to everyone ages 10-18.

DRAWING WORKSHOP STEAMPUNK STYLE 

Artist and game designer Chris Pallace will help set your imaginative gears in motion
as you create characters with steampunk style! Goggles and gadgets, corsets and clockwork, they are all part of the fantastical, sci-fi world of an alternatively imagined
nineteenth century known as steampunk.   
Open to everyone ages 10-18.

Tuesday, July 30th, 2:00pm-3:30pm  (Registration starts July 2nd)

  

MANGA DRAWING with SerWacki 

Learn the basics of manga drawing with local artist Kevin SerWacki. In this workshop you will learn how to create a character in the manga style and give it life and expression. 

Open to everyone age 10-18.

KAPLAN PRACTICE SAT TEST RESULTS

WITH TEST STRATEGIES SEMINAR 

This session is primarily for students who took the Practice PSAT on July 24th and their parents. A Kaplan instructor will bring the results for each student and will discuss in detail what the results mean. Students in grades 9-11 who did not take the practice test, and their parents, are also welcome to register if they have questions about what the PSAT means to them. Registration for those who did not take the test begins on July 10th. Students who took the practice test are automatically registered. If students cannot attend the session, test results will be emailed to them after the session.

Open to students in grades 9-11 and their parents.

Join local crafters from KwikCreations to create pillows in fun shapes.

BOOK SWAP FOR TEENS @ THE LIBRARY

A chance to swap books with other readers! Bring books (in GOOD condition) that are at or above your reading level to swap for books that are brought to swap by other readers.

Only books in GOOD condition and at a middle school to high school reading  

and interest levels will count toward the swap.

Open to readers ages 10-18.

TEEN COOKING: TACO TASTE-OFF

Join Chefs from the Tops cooking School for a taco taste-off. Teams will compete for
 the best tasting tacos created using different ingredients.

Open to all chefs ages 10-18.
