January's birthstone is Garnet.  Although most people are familiar with red garnet, it is actually found in a variety of colors in five different growth formations.  Garnet is used to balance the root chakra and is suitable for grounding, attraction and strength. Ancient civilizations believed that garnet enhanced truth and faith and dispelled melancholy.  It was also used as a remedy for hemorrhage and protection from wounds and bad dreams.

      As we traverse deeper into the winter months, our bodies are more prone to colds, flu and viruses.  Maintaining a strong immune system is the best defense when trying to stay healthy and well.  Use 2-3 drops of the following essential oils via a foot massage, chest rub or diffusion every day or at least 3 times per week to improve your health.
