I trust you had a wonderful Christmas with family and friends, and I wish you the best year ever in 2013.
Health wise, there have been a few developments with my health since I last gave you an update in November.
You may be aware that I have been struggling with a loss of voice since mid August. It took a little over a month for it to come right. And then in mid November, I lost it a second time!!!
Since then, it has been up and down several times; improving slightly, but then going backwards again. Right now, it is not good at all! I have had to postpone several preaching engagements as a result.
Just to recap, we believe It is caused by non-viral reflux laryngitis related to the removal of my esophagus back in 2009 due to cancer.
Imagine if my main occupation was as host of a TV or radio show. With this happening over the last 3 1/2 months I wouldn't have one any more!
I was born to preach so this is so frustrating, not to mention a great financial strain!
According to the National Cancer Institute, "Esophageal cancer is treatable, but is rarely curable. The average 5-year survival rate is 5%." I have survived nearly four years so far...! Stand with me to help me be one of the 5% by this time next year?
We were convinced that more traditional treatments would not have helped, which is why I have been aggressively pursuing more alternative protocols, which have enabled me to stay well enough to continue my ministry, but these voice troubles are a real problem.
If there is no improvement in my voice in the next few days, I may have to postpone all ministry until it hopefully get's back to normal... This will be a major blow, but I may be forced to do it! I'll keep you informed if I have to.
