We will have them installed and tuned in time for our concert with Bradley Welch at 6pm on Saturday, October 8, the night before our 150th Anniversary service and celebration. The United Methodist Women are starting the process of organizing and maintaining the Leach Hall kitchen. If you or your group has anything in the kitchen that you want to keep, please be sure it is clearly marked. If you are missing a dish or container, you might check this upstairs kitchen for your lost items. If the UMW does not hear from you, they will dispose of things that don't appear to be needed. Contact Kathy Langham (kathy.langham@gmx.com or 817-845-8281) to communicate your group's needs.

Prayer beads are used to count the repetition of prayers or devotions. The English word 'bead' derives from the Old English word 'bede' which means prayer. In the 3rd century, the Desert Fathers and Mothers filled their pockets with pebbles and would toss out a pebble each time they completed a prayer. When their pockets were empty they would gather more pebbles and begin again. Eventually, they had the idea of using knotted ropes to count their prayers rather than constantly gathering pebbles.

Caught Caring

Thomas Burnette
FUMC Chancel Choir Member and UNT Music Student Thomas Burnette was caught caring this summer! Thomas volunteered numerous hours going through the Music Library and making sure all the files were updated in anticipation of our new Music Director's arrival. Thanks, Thomas!

We'd like to say THANK YOU to all of you who were caught caring for the families in GCISD. The Seekers class purchased 90 backpacks to add to the hundreds that were donated by the rest of you. The Sisters in Faith recruited 7 of the UMW ladies to work as guides, in addition to many others of you who volunteered your time. These are just a couple of examples of how groups and individuals took part in last Saturday's Back-to-School Fair. Thanks for CARING!
