Sunday, July 3
ONE Worship Service at 11 AM
No Sunday School
Lunch & Bike Parade After Worship

Rev. John Mollet will speak on Psalm 33. We will share together in Holy Communion, and musicians from all of our regular worship services will share their gifts. Rev. Armando Alvarado will translate the message for our Spanish-speakers, and Communion will be bilingual. Our Communion Offering will go to help those who have been affected by flooding in central Texas. After worship, we'll gather in the Family Life Center for an All-American lunch and then have a bike parade for the kids! No reservations are required for lunch, and there is no cost to attend (although donations are always welcome). Invite your friends and family! Kids are encouraged to bring bikes, trikes or scooters to decorate (supplies will be provided) and parade around our campus.
This Sunday, we will have a "gift card pounding" to welcome our new Associate Pastor, Rev. Grant Palma and his wife Samantha. We encourage you to bring gift cards to your favorite local activities, restaurants, stores, etc. and notes of welcome for the Palmas on this, their first Sunday, July 3.
We Need Your Help This Sunday!
We still need a few helping hands for this Sunday's lunch and bike parade. Here are our remaining needs:
  • 10:30 AM - 12 PM - Finish Set Up and Cook Hot Dogs (6 people)
  • 12-1:30 PM - Serve and replenish (5 people)
  • 12-1:30 PM - Bike Decorating (3 people)
  • Approx 1:30 until end - Clean Up. The more we have to help clean up, the sooner we are all finished!
Please contact Kim Crater at eclaysman@aol.com or 972-523-0354 if you can help!

Got Photos?

We are looking for old photos of church activities to include in our 150th celebration. By old, we mean anything older than the past 10 years or so (most of that era we have digitally). If you have a great photo or two you'd like to share, please bring them to the church office to be scanned. If you have the ability to scan them yourself, email them to Melissia at melissiam@fumcg.org.
Temporary Home Needed

One of our neighbors, Sharva Huffines, the victim of a fire at Grapevine Housing Authority several months ago, is relocating and in the interim must find a place for about 3 weeks for her dog Linus. He is a very friendly, housetrained cockapoo, about 6 years old, and unneutered. If you would like to fill this need, please contact Bev Campisi (beverlyc@fumcg.org or 817-481-2559 x140).

Senior Sunday inspired us all, seeing so many of our young people appreciate the influence First Methodist has had on their lives. We heard very passionate messages that made us know the important commitment we have to our children, youth and young adults. Our Campus Angels ministry team is made up of people who want to correspond with those who go away to college to let them know the church does care! If your heart was stirred as we congratulated our 2016 graduates, and if you would like to keep in touch with one of our new college bound or returning college students in the upcoming school year, please sign up online or use the Check-In insert in the bulletin. Questions? Contact Jenna Rosenbaum at jenna.rosenbaum@gmail.com.

God Can for the GRACE Food Pantry

We collected 71 items for God Can this week. Don't forget to grab some extra items when you do your grocery shopping! Note that GRACE has recently updated their needs list! They are out of saltines, instant potatoes, jelly, salt and pepper (shakers), juices, chili... and they are low on a number of other items. Click here to view the full list of needs (pdf). If you would like to donate any of these items, please bring your donations to the God Can bins outside the church office or in the Sanctuary Foyer/Atrium.
Opportunities to Grow...

Don't forget to keep up with the 15 and 15 daily readings and thoughts from our pastors during this Summer of Psalms. This week, Rev. Jenn Pick is sharing thoughts from six different Psalms. bit.ly/15and15

by Fred Rigdon
When we practice spiritual formation, whether by prayer, Bible study, or other spiritual disciplines, we try to approach God with an attitude of humility, faith and love. Jonathan, the son of Saul, Israel's first king, is an example of someone who displayed that attitude. For the first few centuries after the Israelites settled in Canaan, they were governed by a series of judges, who were military leaders as well as rulers, and God was the only King of Israel. Eventually, however, the Israelites rejected their covenant relationship with God and asked the prophet Samuel, who was to be the last of the judges, to appoint a human king, who they thought would be better able to protect them from foreign enemies even though the Lord had repeatedly sent them judges who had defeated their enemies. God instructed Samuel to anoint Saul as king but also to warn the Israelites of the evil they had done and the mistreatment they would suffer under a human king. Samuel also made clear to them that Saul's rule could not replace God's Kingship.  Keep reading...>>>
Caught Caring

A gift has been given to the Organ Pipe Fund by Helen Jean Lucas Reed in memory of Mary Louise Spangler.

VBS Volunteers
Monica Lackey (Nursery Director) shares this "caught caring":

1st grade girl: Why does this church look so cool?
Youth helper: You mean the decorations? Well because the ladies who decorated just did it because they love you and wanted you to have fun.
1st grade girl: Wow they must love us a lot!

So if you see Dawn Treese, Marissa Neil, Kristi Criswell, or Kristen Pratt, remember to thank them for loving on all 200+ of these kids by giving their time and creative talents. We are very blessed!
