Opportunities to Serve and Give...
Got Photos?

We are looking for old photos of church activities to include in our 150th celebration. By old, we mean anything older than the past 10 years or so (most of that era we have digitally). If you have a great photo or two you'd like to share, please bring them to the church office to be scanned. If you have the ability to scan them yourself, email them to Melissia at melissiam@fumcg.org.
Top Need: Benevolence Funds

Our top need for this week is Benevolence Funds. These donations go to help individuals and families in our community who find themselves in financial need. We help pay rent and utilities to get them through a crisis. If you would like to give toward this need, please mark "Benevolence" in the memo of your check, envelope or online gift.

Temporary Home Needed

One of our neighbors, Sharva Huffines, the victim of a fire at Grapevine Housing Authority several months ago, is relocating and in the interim must find a place for about 3 weeks for her dog Linus. He is a very friendly, housetrained cockapoo, about 6 years old, and unneutered. If you would like to fill this need, please contact Bev Campisi (beverlyc@fumcg.org or 817-481-2559 x140).

Senior Sunday inspired us all, seeing so many of our young people appreciate the influence First Methodist has had on their lives. We heard very passionate messages that made us know the important commitment we have to our children, youth and young adults. Our Campus Angels ministry team is made up of people who want to correspond with those who go away to college to let them know the church does care! If your heart was stirred as we congratulated our 2016 graduates, and if you would like to keep in touch with one of our new college bound or returning college students in the upcoming school year, please sign up online or use the Check-In insert in the bulletin. Questions? Contact Jenna Rosenbaum at jenna.rosenbaum@gmail.com.

UPDATED: God Can for the GRACE Food Pantry

Don't forget to grab some extra items when you do your grocery shopping! Note that GRACE has recently updated their needs list! They are out of saltines, instant potatoes, jelly, salt and pepper (shakers), juices, chili... and they are low on a number of other items. Click here to view the full list of needs (pdf). If you would like to donate any of these items, please bring your donations to the God Can bins outside the church office or in the Sanctuary Foyer/Atrium.
What Touched You?
Have you been involved in ministry to one of our Villages? Whether you have served in our local Grapevine Village or traveled the world to visit Kenya, Costa Rica or Latvia... we have one question for you: What touched you the most about your experience? Send your answer to Pat Laster (patlaster@verizon.net) or complete our survey at www.firstmethodistgrapevine.org/mission-survey.

Opportunities to Grow...

by Fred Rigdon
I recently read a book called Beyond Championships: A Playbook for Winning at Life by Dru Joyce II, who is the basketball coach at St Vincent-St Mary High School in Akron, Ohio. As the coach at one of the most legendary high school basketball programs in the country, Coach Dru, as he is called, has been a mentor and motivator to countless young men. One of his better known players is basketball icon LeBron James, who credits Coach Dru with helping him reach his potential as both a basketball player and as a man. Keep reading...>>>
Caught Caring

Access Life Expo
by Joyce King, Helping Hands Coordinator
The Access-Life Expo was held last Saturday, June 18, at Grapevine Lake. The weather was great and fun was had by all. Our church dedicates a special communion offering and supplies the ice and water for this event. We ended up purchasing 2900 bottles of water and supplied 2400 lbs of ice. We needed every bit of both ice and water due to the heat. I know everyone appreciated the caring people of our church. I received numerous "Thank You's" to our church for their caring and thoughtfulness. I would like to thank everyone for their great efforts to show our community the caring nature of the church and a special "Thank You" for the volunteers that battled the heat.

A gift has been given to the Prayer Shawl Ministry by Lonnie and Pam Herndon in memory of his father Forrest Herndon.
