Senior Sunday inspired us all, seeing so many of our young people appreciate the influence First Methodist has had on their lives. We heard very passionate messages that made us know the important commitment we have to our children, youth and young adults. Our Campus Angels ministry team is made up of people who want to correspond with those who go away to college to let them know the church does care! If your heart was stirred as we congratulated our 2016 graduates, and if you would like to keep in touch with one of our new college bound or returning college students in the upcoming school year, please sign up online or use the Check-In insert in the bulletin. Questions? Contact Jenna Rosenbaum at jenna.rosenbaum@gmail.com.

Organ Pipes To Be Installed!

When the Sanctuary was completed in 2001, the chancel area was designed and built to feature a full pipe organ. The purchase of the pipes was always planned to be funded outside the annual church budget. Faithful donors have given to a "pipe organ fund" since the Sanctuary opening. In an effort to complete this project in time for our church's 150th year celebration, a church family has offered to match any remaining gifts, dollar for dollar. We wish to give you the opportunity to give toward this exciting addition to our worship experience. Donations of any size are welcome. You may simply indicate "Organ Pipes" in the memo of your check, envelope or online gift. Read more...»

God has designed us to hear His voice.  In a sense, we have a built-in receiver that enables us to get guidance from God.  Scripture tells us, "God does speak - sometimes one way and sometimes another - even though people may not understand it." (Job 33:14NCV). I can certainly relate to this verse and many of us may feel we are not understanding either.  In her blog, The Plumb Line, Jennifer LeClaire recounted she heard God's voice as soon as she was saved which she desperately needed to hear because she got saved while she was in a county jail after being falsely accused of crime she did not commit.  Had she not been in jail however she would not have heard the evangelists God had sent to the jail to give their testimonies of the saving grace of Jesus. Director's Corner

by Family Ministries Director, Patty Bandy

Our Youth just finished a series on "God's Not Dead." We spent time looking at faith and science. We spoke to science teachers, biologists, pastors and learned how we interpret scripture using the Wesleyan Quadrilateral. At the end of the series, our youth wrote their stories. Each week I will be sharing one of these stories or new ones from students participating in this Summer's "CORE Study."  CORE will ask youth to "Connect, Own, Reveal, Empower" their faith by finding their true identity, value & worth as a teen in Christ.  I hope that you will be as inspired by our Youth's stories as I have been!! Our first story is from one of our High School students...

Throughout my years of being a Christian, I have felt different feelings. I have felt very strongly towards God, but then sometimes I have had doubts. My previous leaders have told me that it was wrong to have doubts, and I ended up drifting away from God. For a part of my life, I had not believed in God, and I was convinced that God did not exist. However, when I came towards God for guidance when I was having hard times, God accepted me with open arms. I felt as if I was having a place to go home to. In recent times, I have started to try to act more like a Christian. God is guiding me to be a better person and I am working towards that. I want to be able to share my story to prove to other people that Religion is not without hard times, and by having doubts you are actually trying to create a stronger relationship with God. Faith is not without trials, and by facing these trials with God, a person can then truly start to believe.

Caught Caring

Central Texas Annual Conference
Our pastors and lay representatives are at Annual Conference this week. This year, we were asked to provide testimonies from some of our church members for a series of posters to be displayed around the conference venue. Check out all these bright, shiny faces from FUMC Grapevine! In addition, one of your young people, Taylor Vaughan, serves as CTCYA President 2015-16 year. She spoke about how working together with the conference & churches across the conference has been transforming! You can see all of the posters/photos of our church members, plus hear Taylor's speech, on our Facebook page! Here's a sampling of photos...

Photography Volunteers CAUGHT CARING!
A special thanks goes out to our Photography Team, who took most of the pictures that were used on the Annual Conference posters. The posters will be coming back here for us to display around the church... so keep an eye out for them!

Angie Vaughan shared the following "caught caring" moment after Taylor Vaughan's talk at Annual Conference...

My heart is completely full. It is an unbelievably proud mommy moment to watch others give your daughter a standing ovation. It is one of the most moving moments of my lifetime to hear the Bishop say, "I am pretty sure every youth program out there would benefit from having Taylor Vaughan as president." To our FUMC Grapevine family who has strengthened this young woman throughout her AMAZING faith journey, the words "thank you" are simply not enough. She knows & she honored your works today.

Click here to see Taylor's talk (posted on Facebook).

Our Children's Worship Arts team and children were caught caring last Sunday! They shared the culmination of their weekly rehearsals in the "Back to the Cross" musical presented on Sunday afternoon, plus a little 'teaser' during the 11 AM worship service. Thanks to all the adults who helped out, and to all the kids who did an amazing job!!
