This Sunday's Communion Offering will go to this summer's Feed Our Kids ministry. Every week of summer break, different organizations provide lunch and some recreation time to children in the apartment complexes in the Grapevine/Colleyville school district. Our church participates for one BIG WEEK of the summer at all of the locations, feeding around 800 lunches each day. We also serve four subsequent weeks at Shady Oaks. If you would like to give to this offering, please mark "Feed Our Kids" in the memo of your check, envelope or online gift. To sign up to help with Feed Our Kids, go to www.firstmethodistgrapevine.org/sos.

Love Offering Updates
Kenya Evangelists - In Honor of Trudy Hughes
As most of you know, Trudy Hughes retired on May 31. To thank Trudy for her years of service, we encouraged you all to support our Kenyan evangelists, a ministry that is close to Trudy's heart. We have now collected over $7,000 toward this ministry!
Thank you all for your generous donations. If you would still like to give, please mark your check, envelope or online gift with "Trudy - Kenya Evangelists" in the memo.
NOTE: If you have questions about church matters that you would have normally directed to Trudy, please contact our new Finance Director, Anderia Lopez, at anderial@fumcg.org.

We are still taking your donations in support of feeding ministries in honor of Cindy Ryan through June 12. You have given $58,782 to sponsor 816 GCISD children to receive Weekend Food next school year. In addition, you have responded to the invitation to give to "fill up" our other feeding ministries: Weekend Food for the remainder of this school year, Be Our Guest Neighborhood Meal, and Feed Our Kids summer feeding program. If you would still like to give, just designate which ministry you'd like to support in the memo of your check, envelope or online gift.

Do You Have a College Grad in Your Family?
We would like to congratulate those who are graduating with higher degrees (college, grad school, etc.). If you or your child has graduated or is graduating this spring, please send a photo along with the name of the school and the degree earned to melissiam@fumcg.org by June 3.
We're preparing for a summer full of fun activities and outreach! Sign up online at www.firstmethodistgrapevine.org/sos.

Opportunities to Serve and Give...

Furnishing Hope is responding to the needs of at least one family that lost everything in the recent Mustang Drive fire as well as some other needs in our neighborhood. Thank you to everyone who responded on Sunday. You are an awesome congregation! Please check the sign up genius  www.SignUpGenius.com/go/10C0F48ACAD28A2FB6-furnishing over the next couple of weeks for updates of specific needs or new needs we hear of.

On an ongoing basis, we are also accepting the following to use in this mission ministry: mattresses/frames (twin, full, queen); chest of drawers, sofa sleepers, end tables and coffee tables, working washer or dryers, and microwaves. If you would like to donate any of these items, we will be accepting items this Sunday, June 5, at Portable B from 11 AM to 1 PM (please call or text to confirm we can accept your items - 817-239-5298). High School Mission: Adult Volunteers & Food Donations Needed

About 75 high school youth and sponsors are traveling to Bauxite, Arkansas June 12-18 for a week of mission work. If you would like to be a part of the mission, it's not too late! Here's how you can help:
  • Be a work team adult volunteer. We still need about 4 work team adults to go to the sites with the youth and help lead the team of youth in carrying out various construction activities (painting, wheel chair ramps, fix up jobs, drywall, roofing). You must be 21 years of age or older and have completed the Ministry Safe Training. If you have questions or want more information, please contact Kim Crater at 972-523-0354 or eclaysman@aol.com. If you are interested in going, please contact lindam@fumcg.org as soon as possible.
  • Donate food. While on mission trip, the team will consume over 1,200 meals and snacks! That calls for a lot of food. We need your help to keep them well-fed while they are the hands and feet of Jesus in the community throughout the week. Last Sunday, we distributed grocery bags with lists of needs. Don't forget to return your donations to the church this Sunday, June 5.
Senior Sunday inspired us all, seeing so many of our young people appreciate the influence First Methodist has had on their lives. We heard very passionate messages that made us know the important commitment we have to our children, youth and young adults. Our Campus Angels ministry team is made up of people who want to correspond with those who go away to college to let them know the church does care! If your heart was stirred as we congratulated our 2016 graduates, and if you would like to keep in touch with one of our new college bound or returning college students in the upcoming school year, please sign up online or use the Check-In insert in the bulletin. Questions? Contact Jenna Rosenbaum at jenna.rosenbaum@gmail.com.

God Can for the GRACE Food Pantry

Don't forget to grab some extra items when you do your grocery shopping! GRACE is low on mayonnaise, juice boxes, beef stew, cooking oil, evaporated milk, and fruit juice. Click here to view the full list of needs (pdf). If you would like to donate any of these items, please bring your donations to the God Can bins outside the church office or in the Sanctuary Foyer/Atrium.
Organ Pipes To Be Installed!

When the Sanctuary was completed in 2001, the chancel area was designed and built to feature a full pipe organ. The purchase of the pipes was always planned to be funded outside the annual church budget. Faithful donors have given to a "pipe organ fund" since the Sanctuary opening. In an effort to complete this project in time for our church's 150th year celebration, a church family has offered to match any remaining gifts, dollar for dollar. We wish to give you the opportunity to give toward this exciting addition to our worship experience. Donations of any size are welcome. You may simply indicate "Organ Pipes" in the memo of your check, envelope or online gift. Read more...»

Opportunities to Grow...

Too Busy Not to Pray, a five week instructional series, will be led by Sandra Nasr and Fred Rigdon on Wednesday evenings from June 8 through July 13 (no class on July 6) from 6 to 7:30 PM in room 2002. See details above....»

Note that the Connections Sunday School Class is now meeting in the Arts & Crafts Room of the Senior Activity Center building at 9:45 AM on Sundays.

by Fred Rigdon
Patrick was a fifth century missionary and bishop and is known as the "Apostle of Ireland."  Although not the first bishop sent by Rome to Ireland, Patrick is credited with bringing Christianity to the country. When he was sixteen years old he was captured by pirates in his native Roman Britain and taken to Ireland, then a land of Druids and pagans, and forced to work as a shepherd. During his captivity, Patrick became familiar with the Celtic language and culture. Keep reading...>>>
Caught Caring

Gift Given
A gift has been given to the Organ Pipe Fund in memory of Grady Graham by Betty Graham.

Kenya Mission Trip
Our Kenya Team is home safely and reports these great CARING moments from their trip...
Meru Guest House - We were very comfortable to stay at the Guest House. It was quiet , convenient and clean. The construction is coming along on the permanent roof and they have enough money to do that. Bishop Catherine will be having a staff meeting this week and should be getting us a financial report soon.
Medical Camps - We held two camps: one at the dispensary at Isaac's church, where we served 473 with over 100 of those having dental extractions. The second was held at Lawrence's church. There were over 813 people served that day.
Schools - We visited our Village of Ntumburi, school for the Mentally Challenged, School for the Hearing Impaired, St. Matthews and Kambereu.
AIDS Orphans - We had a good day with many of our children. We have video of some of the successes. We got a new list of names and a report from Jennifer. We'll let you know of the needs once we have them.
Connections - We met with KeMU about the E-Readers and with Pauline about both the jewelry and the coffee projects.
Street Kids - We visited with the street kids. A report has been submitted to obtain a Rotary Grant. It went well this year but much work to do.
AIDS Support Group - We met with the Ntumburi AIDS support group and took them food. The pews we bought from our last visit were in place and beautiful.
Evangelists - Had a great meeting with the evangelists they are doing a great job. Needs: Two additional sponsorships if possible; give a raise on the stipend; replace 8 motorcycles and add 5 more, for they need them badly; funding to bring them in for additional training at least twice a year.
Bishop William - We met with our Bishop William, now the Bishop of Uganda and he has many needs, but the biggest need is for a car, which would assist him more than anything.

We'll have many more photos for you once the team has time to regroup...

We would like to thank everyone, especially the children, who supported the 'Care Packages' for the troops. The kids packed boxes during their mission project, filling 50 large zip-lock bags with treats for our troops. Then others helped pack after worship. We were able to ship 23 packages. Prayers and love are being sent to troops in Kandahar and Bagram in Afghanistan, Kuwait, and Japan.

We are excited to announce that FUMCG's first ever booth at Main Street Fest was a SUCCESS! The booth raised over $6,500 to support our church's missions. And even more importantly we reached over 3,500 people via direct interaction at the booth while also displaying our church's tent with logo and website to over 160,000 people over the course of the three days.

Big THANK YOU to all of the volunteers who were "caught caring" - staffing the booth the entire weekend. We had over 70 church members participate, which is a true testimony to our church's serving nature.

We'd also like to THANK all of our Church Booth Sponsors. Without your support we would not have been able to have the quality of presentation achieved.
  • GOLD Sponsors: Richard & Rachel Bell; Phil & Kalere Coleman; Kevin & Katie Willis
  • SILVER Sponsors: Richard & Julie Payne; Open Door Sunday School Class
  • Food & Friends of the Fest Sponsors: Thrift Shop; Bob & Bev Campisi; Mark & Julie Croft; Seekers Sunday School Class; Roundtable Sunday School Class; Craig & Cathy Morris; Ed & Kim Crater; Rob & Anne Rhoades; Curtis & Donna Price; Brian & Rosalind Tyrone; Pathfinders Sunday School Class; GIFT Sunday School Class; Katherine Huestis; Dave & Hilarie Benedetto; Dale & Joyce King; Don Davis
