Now that we have experienced the Resurrection, what's next? What is it like to be a community of faith that is living "resurrected"?  In this four-week series, we are asked to "Imagine the People of God" that care, share, believe, receive, seek, dream and change. Let's come together to imagine and create better relationships, better family, better church, better world!

Discover the Church
If you are interested in church membership or learning more about the church, please consider joining us at the Discover the Church class this Sunday, April 17, at 10 AM in Room 2005 of the Family Life Center (Library). This is a one-time, one-hour class that is offered monthly for all who desire to know more about fellowship, mission and service opportunities in our church, and for all who are interested in or have questions about church membership. You will have an opportunity to join the church during this class. Childcare or Sunday school classes are available for children of all ages during this time. A Note from Michael Franklin

Dear Church Family,

I am excited to announce that I have taken a job as the assistant youth director for Trinity UMC in Arlington. My areas of focus will be on the relational side of the high school, sports, and college ministries. I am excited about this opportunity and feel it is a great fit with my qualifications and skill set.

It saddens me to leave what I consider to be my church home. I started here in 2006 as a college intern and will cherish all the time and growth I've experienced here. This church has been there for me when my sister passed away, and has pushed me out of my comfort zone so I was able to grow in my faith and in working for a church.

My last work day at Grapevine will be Wednesday, April 20, although I will continue to lead the confirmation program on Sunday mornings through Confirmation Sunday.

Much Grace Always,

Michael Franklin

NOTE: We will have a going-away celebration for Michael in the HUB on Sunday, April 24. See details below.
This Week
Our next parent seminar is TODAY (Wednesday, April 13) at 6:15 PM in Room 2001. Rev. Every aspect of human development can be approached with a faith perspective. John has been through special training and served on a Methodist board that helped develop appropriate sexuality training for children and youth. This seminar will be insightful and important for parents of all ages. Please RSVP to Linda McClure at lindam@fumcg.org by Monday, April 11.

Opportunities to Serve and Give...

We'd like to bring our God Can needs to your attention once again. Our numbers have been very low lately, so don't forget to grab some extra items when you do your grocery shopping! GRACE is low on mayonnaise, juice boxes, beef stew, cooking oil, evaporated milk, and fruit juice.
Click here to view the full list of needs (pdf). If you would like to donate any of these items, please bring your donations to the God Can bins outside the church office or in the Sanctuary Foyer/Atrium.

FUMC Grapevine will host a booth at Main Street Fest this year! The event is May 20-22, right here in Downtown Grapevine. We'll be promoting awareness of our church and our great ministries and programs. We'll need lots of volunteers, with happy faces and willing spirits! We'll also need sponsors... visit our website for sponsorship opportunities. Grab your friends and get your volunteer groups together, pick your sponsorship and make our first go at a booth a huge hit! Sign up now on Sign-Up Genius. Costa Rica Children's Home Quilt Wish List

The Costa Rica mission trip team is excitedly preparing for the upcoming May trip to the Hogar Metodista Children's Home. The children and house moms living at the orphanage are in need of new quilts for the twin beds in each of the rooms. Missionary Lydia Zirkel has identified themes that each of the age groups would enjoy and our team would like to be able to purchase matching quilts for each of the rooms. A $30 donation would provide one twin size quilt for a child or tia. Please mark your check "Costa Rica Quilts" and send it to the church office. You may also donate online by designating Costa Rica in the special gift memo. Thank you!

Youth, do you need community service hours for school? You can help put together first-time guest gifts! Contact Katherine Hunter if you'd like to help (katherineh@fumcg.org, 817-481-2559 x130).

We have just a few paintings and bracelets leftover after Sunday. These items are handmade in Latvia and proceeds from their sale are sent right back to Latvia to support their ministries. If you didn't get a chance to purchase a painting on Sunday, stop by the church office to take a look! (NOTE: There was a card left in the Family Life Center... if you bought one and didn't make it home with it, see Melissia in the church office).

If you are following along with the Family Ministries Book Study, this week's reading is the section on Nurture and the Guiding and Teaching Process. If you would like to participate, email your three insights (most important thing you learned, favorite quote, how to apply it to ministry) by Monday, April 25, at 5 PM to Patty Bandy (pattyb@fumcg.org).

From the Spiritual Formation Blog...
Parable of the Four Soils and Our Daily Life
by Nancy Johnson

Christ was always teaching and often many of His greatest lessons were taught by the use of parables.  Jesus told the disciples it was granted for them to know the mysteries of the kingdom of God and He told the parable of the sower, the seed, and the soils (Luke 8, Mtw 13, Mark 4).  Many of us are familiar with this parable and Jesus explained that the disciples may understand these parables but those on the outside would not understand, "...so that SEEING THEY MAY NOT SEE, AND HEARING THEY MAY NOT UNDERSTAND. (Luke 8:10 NAS).  The truth of our Lord can look very different as seen from within and from without, much like looking at stained glass windows from the inside or the outside.
