Rev. John Mollet preaching in English
Linda Almendarez preaching in Bilingual
Worship at 8:30, 9, 9:45, and 11 AM
Now that we have experienced the Resurrection, what's next? What is it like to be a community of faith that is living "resurrected"? In this four-week series, we are asked to "Imagine the People of God" that care, share, believe, receive, seek, dream and change. Let's come together to imagine and create better relationships, better family, better church, better world!
Latvian Bell Choir
We are excited to welcome the Bell Choir from the Baptist Church in Cēsis, Latvia in worship with us this Sunday, at the 8:30, 9:45 and 11 AM services. (see details below)

Winds of Change Update
By Dr. Cindy Ryan
Our Winds of Change Workshops got off to a great start on Sunday. One hundred people attended the first session where we began our journey of healing with information about change, the illusion of control, how to honor our feelings and speak our truth. We received journals where we began to record our feelings and reflections. We started the work of understanding our families of origin by drawing a genogram of our family and some of the positive and negative traits we've inherited there. Everyone who attended received a copy of Jesus Calling for themselves or to give someone else. |

Carolyn Ann's journal

A couple of early reviews: Jesse and I found the "Winds of Change" sessions...gently powerful. It is well worth the expenditure of time. I got my "one thing"; it is the answer to prayer that I have wanted for many years. - Annette Sowell Grateful for this free Winds of Change seminar series at church. We all experience big changes....but God is always present and brings real people with real life who need real strengthening. Our church faces all with such honest, love, grace, transparency, generosity and hope-not to mention resources. Change, grief, loss-never easy-but all part of a beautiful life. Life that should not feel invisible or disposable. - Carolyn Ann Walgren If you were not able to attend Sunday, we hope you will plan to attend the makeup session TONIGHT, Wednesday, April 6, 6-8 PM in Room 2011. Please let Bev Campisi know your plans by emailing her directly at beverlyc@fumcg.org. Send childcare reservations to monicav@fumcg.org. It is also not too late to join us this Sunday, April 10, for lunch and session 2 on "How to Communicate in the Midst of Change." RSVP to Bev Campisi at beverlyc@fumcg.org and childcare to monicav@fumcg.org. If you missed session one and the make-up session, please arrive by 12:45 PM to the Family Life Center in order to have a session with Cindy Ryan on how to draw a genogram. Questions? Contact Cindy Ryan at cindyr@fumcg.org.

This year our church celebrates 150 continuous years as a congregation of the Methodist Church! The date for our First Methodist Grapevine 150th Anniversary Celebration will be October 9, 2016. We hope you will mark your calendars and plan to celebrate with us in a special service and participate in other fun activities. We will worship together in ONE worship service, followed by a catered lunch. From time to time we will be updating you on plans for that special day and other events surrounding this milestone in our church and community, so watch this section of E-News for updates.
150 Years of Great Cooking!
The first item on our agenda is to collect recipes for our sesquicentennial cookbook! We will be collecting your favorite new and old recipes to publish this summer and have available for purchase by our October 9 celebration. We'll also include some old favorites from past church cookbooks and great recipes from our Be Our Guest team! We know we have the best cooks around, so be sure to submit your favorites to share! You may pick up blank recipe forms in the church office or download a printable form (PDF) by April 15. We have been told that some are having trouble with the online form, however the problem is intermittent (and so far unidentifiable), so you may wish to stick with the printable form.

Opportunities to Serve and Give...
Handmade in Latvia
We have received a batch of handmade cards from Latvia for Spring! These beautiful cards are hand-painted or appliqued, or both. We will be selling the cards in the church office until they are gone, as well as in the foyers on Sunday, April 10. These are perfect for Mother's Day, or just for sending a thinking-of-you note. We also have a limited number of paintings available, including water-color street scenes, flowers and more. All of the proceeds from these cards and paintings go back to Latvia to support ministries and pensioners who are in financial need.
God Can for the GRACE Food Pantry
We only collected 46 items for the GRACE Food Pantry this week, 44 of which were brought by the God Can volunteer! So we'd like to bring the needs to your attention once again. Don't forget to grab some extra items when you do your grocery shopping! GRACE is low on mayonnaise, juice boxes, beef stew, cooking oil, evaporated milk, and fruit juice. Click here to view the full list of needs (pdf). If you would like to donate any of these items, please bring your donations to the God Can bins outside the church office or in the Sanctuary Foyer/Atrium.
Main Street Fest!
FUMC Grapevine will host a booth at Main Street Fest this year! The event is May 20-22, right here in Downtown Grapevine. We'll be promoting awareness of our church and our great ministries and programs. We'll need lots of volunteers, with happy faces and willing spirits! We'll also need sponsors... visit our website for sponsorship opportunities. Grab your friends and get your volunteer groups together, pick your sponsorship and make our first go at a booth a huge hit! Sign up now on Sign-Up Genius. Contact Cathy Morris at cathymorris7209@gmail.com to let her know how you'd like to help.
UMCOR Cleaning Buckets Needed NOW
As you are all aware, East Texas and Louisiana received HEAVY flooding a few weeks ago. UMCOR is almost out of cleaning buckets and they are desperate for more and so is East Texas. Our Conference (Central Texas) will be collecting cleaning buckets to go to FUMC Mansfield beginning immediately. Collections should be taken to the Wesley Mission Center Monday - Friday from 9-5 pm at FUMC Mansfield (777 N. Walnut Creek Dr. in Mansfield). You may also bring buckets on the last day which will be Sunday, April 24, from 3-6 pm. Click here for instructions on making cleaning buckets. Please turn in ONLY $1 per bucket for transportation costs (not the $1.50 UMCOR requires). Please leave a check made out to CTCUMC for all the buckets you bring. This will cover the costs for the truck to take the supplies to Marshall and return home.

Listening for God
by Fred Rigdon One reason that we practice the spiritual disciplines such as silence and solitude and contemplative prayer is to learn to discern the voice of God when He calls us and offers guidance. By spending time each day with God we learn to recognize His voice and listen. Keep reading...

Jesus Calling Update
The final podcast in our Jesus Calling story is now available on the Jesus Calling blog. Cindy Ryan shares her experience with the loss of Ken, and then a cancer diagnosis. Read the story or listen at www.jesuscalling.com/blog.
Remember that we have a shelf in the church office supplied with copies of Jesus Calling for you to give away. Help us spread the word and spread the love by making it your individual ministry to put a book in the hands of someone who needs it.

Caught Caring...
You may recall that Grady and Holly Nace, daughter of members Mike & Rachel Clark, are missionaries with Mission Aviation Fellowship. A few weeks ago, Grady had an accident and was injured. Holly and Grady would like to thank you for supporting their ministry, and they have shared their latest newsletter with us. We invite you to read more about how God has blessed them through Grady's recovery and what's next for their work. Click here to read (PDF).
Those Who Provided & Delivered Flowers by Tana Thomas, Altar Flower Ministry Coordinator
I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who purchased and donated the Easter plants this year. Approximately 45 plants were donated and delivered to members and prospects of the church. Those receiving plants are people who are or have been ill, members who have just not been able to attend worship lately, elderly members who are homebound, and some who are just going through a difficult time. They are very appreciative of the caring nature of our church. Thanks also to our delivery team of Emily Diehm, Terri Lane, Joan McClesky, Jim and Zona Peterson.
