This week at First United Methodist Church in Grapevine | December 2, 2015
The Second Sunday of Advent, December 6
Rev. Armando Alvarado speaking in the English services
Socorro Garcia & Mariella Alvarado speaking in Bilingual
Communion will be served at all services this Sunday.
In this season of Advent we will BEHOLD the presence of God as evidenced in the world... in prophets, in the lowly, in a new creation, in angelic light, and in the Christ Child. We encourage you, in this time of busy-ness, to open your eyes, search for God's light and BEHOLD God's glory... More about worship...

This Week...

jesuscallingJesus Calling Crew Visiting
by Dr. Cindy Ryan
This Sunday and Monday, a film crew from Nashville will be here in connection with the devotional book, Jesus Calling. They are interested in our church's story about how that book has sustained many of us through our personal difficulties as well as through our shared losses in recent years. They will be filming individuals on Sunday afternoon and Monday. On Sunday morning, they want to film our church family in action, worshiping in our different venues, studying God's word and enjoying fellowship. Please welcome them on Sunday morning and be relaxed in being the vibrant community of faith that we are. At this time, they hope to film bits of our 9 and 11 AM worship services and our Bilingual service. I'm still interested in hearing your Jesus Calling stories as God's presence through this book is still unfolding in our midst. Email me at cindyr@fumcg.org....>

Opportunities to Grow...

During the season of Advent, we have daily devotional readings and thoughts that have been written by our pastors, Family Ministries team and some of the children in our congregation. The devotionals are in both English and Spanish, and take the place of the 15 and 15 readings throughout the season. You can view the daily devotionals on the 15 and 15 blog, or pick up a printed copy in the foyer/atrium.

It was a sleepless night and, although I stayed in bed for 12 hours, I am worn out. There is a lot in my head but so much in my heart, and I am grateful for my Jesus. I know He is here. Sometimes I can't feel Him, but I know He's here. The holidays are upon us. I love being with my family; it's my favorite thing. But I must admit that holidays are hard. Grief is such an odd thing. It hits you so hard, and then it may lay quietly in your soul for a while, then it comes back in full swing.....sometimes when you least expect it. During the holidays, it doesn't linger; but it comes out strong, plants its feet and stays for a while. Everyone experiences it differently... Keep reading...
Give 150 for the Next 150

Caught Caring...

Gift Given
A gift has been given to the Permanent Endowment Fund in memory of Jan Miller by Judy and Ed Brown.

UMW and Fellowship Team
The UMW and Fellowship Team were caught caring last week, providing refreshments for the Advent Festival!

Family Ministries
Family Ministries was caught caring... coordinating a great Advent Festival for the entire church family! The Youth Praise Band provided worship music. Although the rain kept some inside, those who came had a great time of worship, fellowship and making Advent Calendars and Chrismons. Extra Advent Calendars are available in the church office if you missed getting yours.
