Explore the Science of the Impossible at the Fleet
Join the Fleet's Curator of Impossible Science, Jason Latimer, as he makes the seemingly impossible become possible with science.

The second annual Impossible Science Festival will feature hands-on demonstrations of things that you would have never thought possible. You'll experiment with invisibility, make objects levitate, discover your own super powers and more! Most exciting of all, we'll also have a giant pool of strange, squishy Oobleck for adventurous souls such as yourself to walk across. The Impossible Science Festival takes place on Saturday and Sunday, August 20 and 21, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Fleet theater lobby. Special admission rates apply. 

The Art of the Brick Comes to San Diego

The Art of the Brick opens on Friday, September 30, and will be open daily at 10 a.m. through January 29, 2017. Tickets are on sale now.

Last Chance! Summer Camps Going Fast
Act fast to grab the last few spots in the Fleet's Summer Science Camps! Kids grades 5-8 can learn about computer programming by Modding Minecraft, grades 1 and 2 can set sail on the high seas with Ahoy! Arggg! Pirate Camp and grades 7 and 8 can stop a zombie outbreak in Balboa Park by joining Zombie Apocalypse Camp!

Saturday Science Club for Girls: Global Climate Change
Girls in grades 5 through 8 will learn the latest on what scientists are saying about global warming and what we can all do to help slow it down.

Advance registration is recommended. Prices: $12 members; $14 nonmembers.

Suds & Science: Zika and Flaviviruses
This is your monthly chance to connect with other curious scientific minds over a beer--or two--and take part in an in-depth discussion about important scientific topics. Join Dr. Deborah Spector from UCSD as she explains the nature of zika and flaviviruses, the current research efforts around them and whether a vaccine for zika virus will be available in the foreseeable future. Star Trek and the Science of Space Travel
Crossover pairs comic book writers and artists with scientists for an engaging night of discussion. This month, astrophysicist Brian Keating and astronomer Lisa Will are joined by comic book artists and writers from IDW Publishing to discuss the art and science featured in Star Trek and other space-related comics. More>>

Girl Scout Sleepover
Girl Scouts will take over the Fleet on September 10! Girl Scouts ages 6-13 will have the entire science center to themselves as they attend fun educational workshops, participate in a scavenger hunt and view an IMAX movie in the Heikoff Giant Dome Theater--and then spend the night at the Fleet. Sign up early to reserve your spot. 

Saturday, September 10, at 6:15 p.m. through Sunday, September 11, at 8:15 a.m. Tickets are available online or at the Fleet ticket counter.

Make New Creations With 3D Printing
The Reuben H. Fleet Science Center now has 3D printing in the Tinkering Studio! Use Computer Aided Drawing (CAD) techniques to design your own toys and structures, then watch as a 3D printer creates your model right before your eyes.

The 3D printing workshop is available for ages 7+. Pricing for the three-session workshop is $85 for Fleet members and $95 for nonmembers. Register now! More>>
