New Exhibition! Science Fiction, Science Future

The Fleet welcomes our new exhibition for the summer! Science Fiction, Science Future brings the science of the future into the present when it opens on Saturday, May 21, 2016, in the Fleet Science Center's main exhibit gallery.
Have you ever wanted to control a computer with your mind, interact with a cyborg or use "cloaking" to become invisible? Science Fiction, Science Future will give you the chance! The exhibition e xplores the innovations and inventions that were previously only considered possible in science-fiction films and literature. You'll see firsthand how the science fiction of today might become the science reality of tomorrow. More>>
Also, this is your last chance to see Zoo in You: The Human Microbiome before it closes on May 8. Don't miss the opportunity to learn all about the complex ecosystem and trillions of different microbes that inhabit the human body. Science Fiction, Science Future opens May 21 and runs through September 5, 2016, in the Fleet Main Gallery.

Science Is Everywhere |

Now is the time to sign up for Summer Science Camps! Kids will explore outer space, engineering, chemical reactions, computer programming and dozens of other topics that will keep their minds active all summer! We have camps for pre-kindergarten kids through 8th graders. This summer we also have Minecraft Computer Programming camps for grades 4-7, provided by ThoughtSTEM. On Monday, May 23, join us as Norwegian solar physicist, Dr. Pal Brekke, shares a special screening of his documentary, The Northern Lights: A Magic Experience and shares the science behind the aurora borealis. This is part of our monthly Suds & Science series. More>>Additionally, Monday, May 23, through Wednesday, May 25, the Fleet teams up with Pint of Science to offer multiple science talks about the cutting-edge discoveries local scientists are making. Three talks are offered each night, at three different bars, on topics ranging from climate change to the future of neuroscience. More>>Suds & Science: Northern Lights: A Magical Experience. Learn Computer Programming |
Students ages 8-14 can learn code writing and computer programming through our new ThoughtSTEM Weekend Coding classes. No experience is needed. Students learn by doing. The challenges are self-paced and students can join at any time. More>>The ThoughtSTEM Computer Programming classes are on Saturdays from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Fleet.
